[ The post drifts up onto the comms one evening, just a simple line of text to ask a simple question:]

guys, how do aliens know when other aliens are hot?

[After Brainy and Babbage disappear, cameras start broadcasting from where they were taken to. The entire encounter is shown to the team and the rest of the UP. When Earth is taken through the portal, Legion World lurches, and at the end of it all, when the traps are tripped, it lurches again. Lights all over the ship go out, fires starts, systems fail. Only lockdown procedures that Brainy himself put in place, to protect Legion World’s most vital systems if he were ever compromised by telepathy or other influences, keep the viruses from self-destructing the ship or turning off life support -- but they’re certainly trying to.]

[The network goes back up again fairly quickly, however, but it’s using a much older, inferior form of networking. Something a little more distance-based and analog, a little less hackable.]

[They’ll be able to communicate again, but there’s a lot of interference. Sometimes the video goes out during video calls and sometimes audio cracks up. Text seems to be the only form of communication that’s guaranteed to go through every time.]

[ooc: People can react and start planning things on this post. This is also where information about the Spectre's attack will get dropped.]

[ The background audio is pretty quiet, just the odd white noise of York's habitat as he, well. Wonders at nothing in particular after a long night of coding. It's roughly the ass end of the morning, about 3 AM. ]

[ There's a perplexed looking young man in view of the screen. Anyone familiar with Locus will probably recognize him, but something's definitely different. That tell-tale x-shaped scar? Gone. His hair is shorter, hanging just below his jaw. Moreover, his eyes don't quite hold that thousand-yard-stare to them just yet.

He looks, well. Teenaged.

He's also holding Luna up to view. She's purring heavily, but he appears bewildered by her presence, if anything. ]

Does anyone know whose cat this is? I just...found her here when I woke up.

[The image on the screen shows a blue haired girl in a rather interesting outfit taking her pledge to join the Legion.]

To the Legion of Superheroes I make this solemn pledge: To use my powers for good. To fight for justice and protect the innocent. To aid my fellow Legionnaires in times of peril and to keep their secrets safe.

I choose a new name to honor the heroes of the past. I am the Guardian of love and Intelligence, I am Sailor Mercury!

[She couldn't help but add in part of her usual introduction as she swore her oath. Back home she did what she could to protect people and that wouldn't change while she was here. The new powers would take some getting used to though.

After finishing her oath, she turns her attention back to the omnicom with a smile and a small bow.
]

Hello. My name is Sailor Mercury, but you may also call me Ami. I've only just arrived here, but I will do what I can to help.

I do have a question, does someone know where I might be able to find a library?

[Either Widowmaker had managed to talk someone else into holding her omnicomm up or she managed to prop the device up and get herself exactly where she wanted to be in frame. Given her perfectionist tendencies, it was more likely the latter and she was wearing something quite different than the last time she'd been on the network. Far more practical then the violet catsuit she'd had on before, the color worked better against her blue skin and most of her tattoos were covered, leaving just the one on her right forearm visible past the edge of her glove. Sharp eyes would see the patches on her shoulders were the Legion insignia and even her rifle showed some modification.]

As it appears that purple is no longer in fashion, I decided to switch my look a bit for the field. [Widowmaker's lips curled in a smile that hinted that there was some kind of inside joke taking place.] Something that I consider a 'blast from the past'. Tell me... how does it look?

[She extended her left hand forward in a shooting motion at the omnicomm. Having been kept out of the Olum mission for obvious reasons, designing this superhero costume was how she passed the time. And she wanted to show it off.]

[ The Legion World staff maintains a feed of all Legion-related media so Legionnaires can be kept abreast of any reporting that's done on them. Two women appear on the screen, sitting at a desk, their appearances altered by glam filters so that one is all pink hair and skin and sparkles, and the other is all in blues. They look pretty flashy and tacky but this is the future. Reporters don't exist anymore; they're "personalities" now. ]

Shellee: I'm Shellee Star! [ That would be the pink one. ]

Tammee: And I'm Tammee Tim! [ That would be the blue one. ]

Shellee: Welcome to another installment of Legion Watch: Legionnaire Legacies! We’ve covered war and loss and monstrous decisions, the apocalypse, and after our last episode we thought we could show you something lighter! Tonight we take a look at the boisterous bachelor in beige armor, Locksmith.

Shellee: And this is another investigative episode of of Legion Watch: Legionnaire Legacies! Today, our featured Legionnaire brings up a rather controversial question: should a so-called 'hero' be weighed by the sum of their deeds, both good and evil?

Tammee: Or can a person some would consider downright villainous change their ways, fight against the dark urges in their heart, and find redemption among the ranks of the Legion?

Shellee: Villain? Oh my. That seems a little harsh, doesn't it?

Tammee: The truth is harsh, Shellee. And we here are dedicated to uncovering the truth. As I've always said, the public has a right to know.

Shellee: Too true, Tammee. Well, viewers! If you want sinful secrets brought to light and checkered pasts laid bare, look no further. This is no tale of knights in shining armor. This is the Legion's very own armored bad boy, Locus!

[Widowmaker had finally extracted herself from all the rigamarole that surrounded a new arrival to make her way to the Mess Hall. With a cup of something almost as blue as the color of her skin sitting on the table before her along with her rifle in its shorter Assault mode, she set the omnicom up so she didn't have to hold it in her hand.

What she did have in her hand was the ring they'd given her upon taking that oath. As if an oath was binding...]

I can certainly understand the need for a vetting process, but it appears to be rather pointless to subject would-be saviors to such repetitive examinations when the results do not change. What is the phrase...? [She idly rolled the ring between her fingers as she thought a moment.] Ah, yes. 'Beggars can't be choosers.'

Perhaps I am simply... special. [There was a slight upturn of her lips at that last word.]

[Waking up again had been disorienting enough; usually when you slip into the empty embrace of death you don't suddenly pop into existence somewhere else. Maybe that's why she's so hesitant to put herself out into this new world even after she's accepted the new job. That in itself could very well be a huge mistake but who knows, she could probably use some good karma in her new life to outweigh her last one.

Which brings her here.

The video feed flickers on to show a dimly lit room with a somewhat battered suit of brown power armour against the wall. The camera itself is focused on the pale hand holding the ring she had been given when she'd said her oath to the Legion. For a few seconds the ring flips and spins between her fingers as if it were a coin, buying her a little time to pick her words before she speaks.]

We don't always get a chance for a new start. I guess I should be grateful for it, and for the new name.

[Giving the ring a light flick into the air with her thumb she catches it and slips it on. No more hiding.]

It's Mirage, by the way. But for the old friends I know are out there...

[The video shifts as she picks up the omnicom to focus on her face. She looks tired, too tired to hide the guilt and resignation behind her small, bitter smile.]

You can still call me Connie.

[And with that the feed cuts off.]
