[Widowmaker had finally extracted herself from all the rigamarole that surrounded a new arrival to make her way to the Mess Hall. With a cup of something almost as blue as the color of her skin sitting on the table before her along with her rifle in its shorter Assault mode, she set the omnicom up so she didn't have to hold it in her hand.
What she did have in her hand was the ring they'd given her upon taking that oath. As if an oath was binding...]
I can certainly understand the need for a vetting process, but it appears to be rather pointless to subject would-be saviors to such repetitive examinations when the results do not change. What is the phrase...? [She idly rolled the ring between her fingers as she thought a moment.] Ah, yes. 'Beggars can't be choosers.'
Perhaps I am simply... special. [There was a slight upturn of her lips at that last word.]

You're somethin', alright.

[She started mentally checking off how many people were going to defend the extensive vetting process. It would give her a good idea of how rigid these people were going to be.]

My mere presence is apparently disruptive and all I have done is try this tacky blue drink. I do not recommend it.

[Rich has been quiet. Paying attention to the little arguments going on. The kind of outrage Tracer was showing only comes with seeing something horrible happen to someone that didn't deserve it, so with that accusation of murder, he figures that it means Widowmaker really is trouble.]
[But he's used to trouble... especially trouble with brightly colored skin. His brain can't help but make the comparison; she's even got the same haughty tone as Gamora. She was never so dispassionate, though.]
Even if you hadn't openly admitted it, you've got "wet work" written all over you, with big ol' capital W's.
[His eyes flicker over the screen, taking in the details of the gun. It looks like an assault rifle but "single target elimation..." he'd hazard a guess that it converts to a sniper rifle somehow.]
So don't expect anyone to roll out the welcome mat. Even Legion Leadership won't hesitate to toss you off the team and into the clink if you step an inch out of line.
[He arches a brow.]
...But I assume you're smart enough to understand that. Just like I assume that even a coldblooded assassin might think the end of existence is a teensy little problem.
[So that leaves the 'what next?' Already, he can tell there are people losing sight of the big picture -- and he gets it. He does. But sometimes the murderous maniac you'd normally try to get into a prison cell fast enough to break the sound barrier is exactly who you need when you're in a cosmic-scale conflict. An impending apocalypse makes for strange bedfellows.]

[Finally, someone that seemed to understand that it took all sorts to handle a problem as big as the one looming over this dimension - the good, the bad and those that fall in between. Acknowledge what she was, give the standard issued threat then move on; this man was already on the overgrown path of earning her respect. He even knew what wetwork was. How nice.]
It is why I chose to join. [She couldn't rightfully put the fate of Talon solely in the hands of another. She was built for action.] Consider it a vested interest in the defeat of this... extra-dimensional being.
