[Video] in his cocoon stage
[A rather tired looking face rose up into a video feed, surrounded by a soft yellow mass. It looked as if his head had been shoved into a Coney Island cutout--but, the cutout was absent of anything but plush yellow fabric. He shifted slightly, sniffing with what clearly looked to be disinterest.]
It sounds like you've all had a good run, so far. Despite that, I hope no one thinks they're beyond a little tutoring and critique.
[He seemed to retreat a bit into the yellow fabric.]
My name is Aizawa Shouta and I'm a Professional Hero. If you need advice or even a good place to hone your skills while you're not currently on a mission--I'm in my biome and I've had it fitted for the sake of physical and strategic training.
[The entire time, he struggled desperately to emote and yet--nothing happened.]
Alright, that seems good enough to get the point across. Talk to me.
[--Without a hint of dramatic flair, Aizawa's feed cut.]

[Audio]
Technically, I'm a lot like a public servant.
[He wasn't unfamiliar with scrutiny. Villains had taken arguments to him, before--that he was a government dog.
Aizawa saw it as keeping himself accountable if he made mistakes.]
[Audio]
Sorry. Kind of jumped to a conclusion there, I guess.
[So his deal is closer to what the Legion does? Huh. Must be more common in superhero worlds than Jason thought.]
So... What do you do, then?
[The best subject change. Conversational master, thy name is Jason.]
[Audio]
[Aizawa smiled a bit on his end--though, it was unseen.]
I'm an instructor for young heroes in training at the moment, though I do still patrol and go on missions.
[Audio]
[Like Grif. And Tadashi.]
Though I guess some people might balk a bit at more training...
[Like Grif.]
[Audio]
[He definitely wasn't in that category, though he wasn't a slouch by any stretch of the word.]
How about you? Do you think you could need more rounding out?
[Audio]
I'm never going to be a big gun in this place, so I may as well make myself versatile.
[Audio]
Jason couldn't see it, but the kid actually made him smile. That was something he actually liked to hear.]
I'll choose to believe that's a very direct and earnest assessment of yourself.
[It certainly sounded that way, at least.]
So, I'll tell you what. I was planning on doing the same--researching the extent of tech, here. I'm a traditionalist when it comes to what I use in the field, but I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to expand into new territory when it comes to bigger threats.
[He paused, pulling down the 'scarf' he wore to show his smile.]
I think you'll do excellently with an attitude like that, by the way.
[Audio]
No point in lying to myself, right? I'm Jason, by the way. Amp when I'm wearing the costume, I guess.
I can send you some notes if you want. The techs probably do a better job of describing things, but it probably wouldn't hurt to have a starter, right?
[Man, if Aizawa only knew. Jason's still taken aback by the compliment, of course. He doesn't get a lot of those, not to his face, about hero work.]
Well. Thanks.
Whoops, he should be using video, here...
Amp, huh? [He'd mention his 'hero name' if asked, but he didn't push.]
Before any of that--what do you say we set up a session for some exercise? I'm going to try and get used to my zone.
[Audio: Jason's pretty much a pure audio guy.]
Everyone asks about that. [He laughs a little] I'm, uh. A power amplifier. There's some more stuff to it, but in basic terms, I make people's powers more, uh. Powerful. Depending.
Yeah, sure. I've got no problems with some exercise. What did you have in mind?
no subject
Potentially, depending entirely on his abilities, he could be a great asset in a large-scale fight. In solo missions, it seemed he wouldn't flourish as much.
Aizawa nodded.]
Training drills, then. You're right to want to focus on the fundamentals. Indirect quirks like that definitely require that you have an arsenal of tools and tricks to help you out.
So--I'll show you a good regimen!
no subject
The phrasing gives him pause. 'Indirect Quirks'. But it's pretty easy to tell what Aizawa means.]
A good regimen, huh? Coming from a 'pro Hero', that kind of makes me expect a bit more than the usual.
no subject
You're stepping into Hell.]
Maybe a bit more. There's no sense in half-assing something important to your own survival, right?
no subject
That's a good point. How long will it take you to get everything together?
no subject
He only really regretted not asking for a general department store to be installed.]
You won't need supplies.
no subject
But, hey. They can always redesign them.]
Got a gym setup, then? That's cool. Well, then, I guess I'm ready when you are.
no subject
[He could have admitted to a number of things, but--]
If you're ready, then I guess you may as well just come. I'm not sure how to give directions, but you know my name. I'm sure a directory has my little sphere listed.
[WELCOME TO HELL]
no subject
Guess I'll be seeing you soon.
[Could be worse. He could've irritated Aizawa first.]

(OOC: Action!?)
Oof. Sorry. I usually don't end up leaving threads hanging for two weeks.
When Jason did show up, he showed up dressed for exercise. Shorts, a loose muscle shirt, and sneakers. He felt pretty relaxed, eager to learn something new. An exercise regimen meant for heroes would be something else entirely.
He taps the button next to the door of Aizawa's habitat, chiming it to let the teacher know that his new student was there.
it's ok, i died from work so we're even...
It wasn't as if he wouldn't give Jason a little cardio to work on, after all.
Aizawa stood at the door, leaving it opened once he answered Jason.
"Here we are," He gestured to the vast expanse behind him. It was dull-looking. Grey, drab apartments littered his space with small corner stores adorning them. There were a few parks that could be spotted, but they were more appropriately called 'patches of grass in the middle of asphalt' if anything. "Welcome to Hell."

Rather than comment, Jason rolled his shoulders and bounced on the balls of his feet a few times. He'd already done a bit of stretching and jogging. Nothing too strenuous. He usually spent three hours a day working out and practicing martial arts, but he'd decided to start with Aizawa's promised super-regimen. It'd be rude to pop up already worn out.
"So, what's first?"
no subject
What it lacked in personality, it made up for it in simplicity. There was no other place Aizawa could think of that possessed a stricter grid layout. He could map the entire place in his head quickly and make use of it with minimal peripheral vision.
He could navigate it while blind, if necessary.
"You'll have a head start of thirty seconds and then I'll begin chasing you. You have to, by any means necessary, evade me as long as possible."
no subject
"Run and hide, huh?" Not exactly something Jason was used to doing. Retreat had been necessary a few times back home, but there they could simply teleport. He could fly to some unexpected area with the flight ring, true, but that seemed to defeat the purpose of this being 'exercise'.
Aizawa would have the advantage here, unlike some of the monsters he'd faced back home. He knew the lay of the land. But Jason had a trick up his sleeve that... It was probably better to reveal ahead of time. This was training, after all.
"I'll have a bit of an advantage," he admitted, starting to bounces on his heels a bit, getting the blood flowing for an actual run. "I don't know if you've read my file or not. My power works in a sphere. I can target anyone inside of it, which means I can kind of sense anyone inside of it. I can't really tell anything about them unless I know them, just that they're there, and the range depends on how the people in my range already feel about me." He rolled his shoulders. "As it is, with no one else here, I'm going to be able to pick you out if you're within about ten feet of me." Not a lot of room, he knew, but it would be important for teammates and trainers to know.
He could also target himself, give him a boost of pure physicality, but he didn't like to bother with that for training. To Jason, it was about enhancing his existing physical abilities, not relying on an artificial boost.
Either way. He was ready to go. "When do we start?"
no subject
Though there was one major issue, there. Aizawa sighed and lifted one hand, presenting a stop-watch. He clicked it once, letting the timer begin running. Ten feet? Being given a precise distance was incredibly useful for him though he would still test it. Jason could have possibly been messing with him for all he knew.
"Lesson one: Limit the amount of information your enemy possesses about you. If possible, mislead them. For someone with an ability like yours--this is something beyond simple necessity. This should be your primary means of combat."
The seconds ticked. Aizawa then continued, "Well, you'll learn a bit about that in a little while. Hurry up."
