[Either Widowmaker had managed to talk someone else into holding her omnicomm up or she managed to prop the device up and get herself exactly where she wanted to be in frame. Given her perfectionist tendencies, it was more likely the latter and she was wearing something quite different than the last time she'd been on the network. Far more practical then the violet catsuit she'd had on before, the color worked better against her blue skin and most of her tattoos were covered, leaving just the one on her right forearm visible past the edge of her glove. Sharp eyes would see the patches on her shoulders were the Legion insignia and even her rifle showed some modification.]
As it appears that purple is no longer in fashion, I decided to switch my look a bit for the field. [Widowmaker's lips curled in a smile that hinted that there was some kind of inside joke taking place.] Something that I consider a 'blast from the past'. Tell me... how does it look?
[She extended her left hand forward in a shooting motion at the omnicomm. Having been kept out of the Olum mission for obvious reasons, designing this superhero costume was how she passed the time. And she wanted to show it off.]

encrypted forever (except from Sombra obv)
How fortunate.]
Is your memory finally wandering that far back, Fareeha?
enjoy the show, Sombra
There are a lot more things I remember than I chose to dwell on.
[Which is an outright lie, the way her relationship with her mother and her yearning to join Overwatch dictated very nearly everything else she did in life years after the fact. Even her tattoo spoke of her unwillingness to let certain things go. Her focus did, however, have a tendency to overshadow some other things (and people) that she'd encountered in that time, so she hasn't reached any deeper realization about who she's talking to.] But I know who you are, Widowmaker, and I can guarantee you Helix would be interested in your whereabouts.
[See she can throw names around too .... but there's still something that's unsettling her. If she can keep Widow talking, she's sure she can figure it out.]

And no, mon oisillon, you only think you know who I am. Such is what happens when the cobwebs build up too much inside the mind.
no subject
[Her way of assuring that, as long as Widowmaker follows Legion's rules, Fareeha won't try to get in her way.]
[But these little hints are getting infuriating, so she can't guarantee she's going to keep a civil tongue about it.] If you have something to say, why don't you come right out and say it?
no subject
I have always thought that you were sharper than this. [She gave a more natural almost pleasant smile.] So non I want to see how long it takes you.
no subject
[Somehow, they knew each other in the past, so is Widow implying she wasn't always a part of Talon, or perhaps she'd been undercover, but Fareeha would have remembered a blue woman.]
[But maybe she wasn't always blue?]
[Fareeha squints at the feed, leaning slightly forward. Under normal circumstances it could be considered rude, but this woman was quite deserving of a fair bit of rude back so Fareeha wasn't going to worry about it too much. She was simply trying to imagine Widowmaker as a normal-people color.]
[Then something, of realization starts to take place. Her eyes widen and she sits back, unsure if what just occurred to her actually made sense - ]
Amélie?

It has been a while. Last we crossed paths, you were still seated at the children's table during the holiday party at Swiss Headquarters. [And she wasn't talking about being too young to join Overwatch.] Did they ever let you sit with the adults?
no subject
My life is none of your concern.
no subject
Now, is that any way to talk to an old friend?
no subject
We're not friends. I don't fraternize with terrorists.
[If she weren't so single-minded with her anger right now, she'd realize just how hypocritical that sounds, considering she just married one of Australia's most notorious criminals.]
no subject
Of course not. You simply consort with them in public places, allowing them to physically wrap around you. [Whereas she doesn't know about the marriage as being anything more than fake for the mission, she had watched Junkrat drape himself all over the other woman at movie night.]
I feel so left out, mon ami. Is it because I am a woman?
no subject
[Well, and now, she knows him far better than many others.]
[Instead she finally shoves the breath out in a forceful sigh through her nose,]
He hasn't given me any reason to doubt his intentions here.
[Still stressing their role with Legion. She would be good on her word; as mad as Widowmaker might make her now, it's all words. She wouldn't retaliate unless she felt there was reason to think people might be in danger.]
[But given their closer histories it was going to be harder to outright forgive her.]
Maybe I don't want to end up dead like your late husband.
no subject
The smugness and teasing disappeared from her face. In fact, any an all emotion vanished from her face as what was left of Amélie inside the construct of Widowmaker's psyche reared its head and needed surpressed. As Sombra learned not too long ago, this was a very touchy subject. And for one like Fareeha, a very dangerous one.]
You know nothing of Gérard. Take care not to make assumptions, Fareeha Amari. You do not want me to stop playing nice.
no subject
To be fair, Widowmaker pushed her hotbutton first.][Fareeha watches the change, and takes in a slow and careful breath. She is getting the impression that she's playing with fire right now, but she's not backing down.]
Then maybe you should consider you start playing nice.
no subject
I was. [A heavy pause hung in the air before Widowmaker's face took on a bit of life again, leaving the eeriness of what she was behind.] My sense of humor has grown quite dry over the years. Perhaps it was lost on you.
no subject
[Fareeha is not going to push it. She's made her point, proved she was just as capable of cutting with words, and in her ignorance thinks that they're back on equal footing.] Let's agree not to talk about the past.
[Right now, she's not sure if she can handle why. Why did she kill her own husband? Why did she turn to Talon?
Why is she blue dabade dabada. ]no subject
Still, she hummed a bit in thought.]
I believe you will find that quite difficult to do. Let us instead agree not to discuss Gérard. There is so much that you do not know nor understand, Fareeha. I would rather not kill you for your ignorance.
[At least not today.]
In turn, I will refrain from rubbing in your inability to join Overwatch. Clearly something about you has changed if you are cuddling with Jameison Fawkes.
Perhaps you are less uptight than you used to be.
no subject
Don't assume you know my story, or why I do the things I do. Don't mention Overwatch around me. That's how well both survive this.
[There had been a change, but being here had helped to facilitate it further. Still, no one really talks about her 'inability' to join Overwatch and it was mostly her mother that stopped her (the layer collapse at the HQ didn't help either.]

That outfit isn't flattering, by the way.
[Hey she's just being honest.]
