How's it so many of you are runnin' about and not bringin' back any stories with you? Some of us could use it you know! Instead of havin' 'em all dumped out when they drop those spots on the news, anyway.
[Ahem.
Tracer is broadcasting from the monitor room, where she's clearly been serving out her duties with as much patience as she can muster (read: not a lot). Even with all of the activity, Tracer can't deal with the tedium. She's rigged up a way to continuously spin herself in a chair while she spends time dispatching Legionnaires as is expected of her. Even with that, she's incredibly restless, and has herself perched in the window, lounging on the sill in a manner that probably would be considered unsafe if she weren't capable of rewinding time around her.
Overwatch's systems were mostly automated. When a warning went out, the Strike Team left -- and that was the end of it. This dispatching nonsense makes her thankful that it never got quite as large, but also makes her nostalgic.
That's not the only thing, but. Well, its a big part of it. And while she's trying to think of a way to bring up that first thing without outing herself, she can be seen tapping her fingers nervously on the big glowing machine on her chest.]
...speakin' of stories. How many of you lot got families back where you came from? Maybe a better half...
[She pauses here -- not too long though. Don't want to be suspicious.]
...do you think they're still lookin' for you? It's been a tick, hasn't it?

anyway
what kind of stories

i try not to. i caught one of the others in the middle of its run before i realized what it was.
hang on.
how can your brother be your dad???

[A bit of hesitation before he continues, only perceptible if you're used to his typical typing speed. She doesn't already know then, so he doesn't have to mention it.... But. Fuck. Almost everyone else already knows and the spaceinternet won't shut up about it so it's not like she won't likely find out anyway, so--]
ive got a boyfriend back home too
he was here for a bit and he didnt notice me disappearing or anything despite me being here a few weeks longer so yeah the whole lack of time passing back home thing everyones telling you is legit
small comforts i guess
no subject
i know wouldn't want my girlfriend here.
we get on alright but i don't know.
i don't think this is the sort of work anyone should be drafted into.
especially civilian types.
honestly i don't know if that all makes it better or worse.
who knows how long all this rubbish is going to take, right?
no subject
i mean youre right about that
like i miss karkat and all but at the same time i kinda prefer the idea that hes back home and everythings cool there now rather than him being caught up in this category 3 shitstorm
anyway hows that work out for you
dating a civilian
were you a superhero back home too cause i remember you mentioning using the same codename there
not to be a huge asshole but i feel like itd be kinda depressing being with someone who doesnt *really* get what you do when its something as big as that
like if i were hypothetically single and dating around or whatever
its uncomfortable just thinking about trying to have a healthy communicative thing with someone who doesnt actually get what its like dealing with this kind of bullshit
hey honey how was your day? i just went put in a shift at the salon and stopped at the grocery store afterwards to grab stuff for dinner what about you
oh its cool i just fought a fuckin interdimensional terror is all
so yeah how do you make that work
private;
'superhero' is kind of a strong word.
i was glorified military.
but no, emily's always been great.
she's been supportive and understanding since the beginning.
we didn't really get together until after i was out of the thick of it.
most of what i do nowadays is considered illegal.
i guess.
but its a nice reminder about the things you fight for and all that.
i guess the worst thing was having the conversation about...you know.
moving on.
just in case i stopped coming home one day.
Re: private;
shit thats dark
have you considered just like
not doing that anymore
or like did you consider it back home i guess
kinda runs counter to the whole reminder of what youre fighting for thing but having something to live for seems like equally good motivation yknow
i mean i know yeah great power great responsibility etc etc
but at some point dont you get to go okay ive done my fair share of world saving now let me just live my days out peacefully
private;
but there's still people out there trying to take control.
so it aint really an option, you know?
i'm not the type to stand by and watch someone innocent get hurt.
so i guess.
someone else probably would, and i wouldn't blame them.
not me.
no subject
cool
so yeah original question
what kinda stories were you looking for
no subject
i mean these things don't always go off without a hitch, right?
i once got in a car chase without a car.
he tried to accelerate and thought he was faster than me.
rode on his car until he hit his hidey hole.
should've seen the look on his face when he saw me sitting on his car!
no subject
ok so you mean shit from home
idk if ive got anything that makes for a good story to be honest
no subject
i mean, i ain't had anything exciting happen here yet.
not like that.
[Because nobody wants to hear about how much of a train wreck Silent Horizon was.]
no subject
its just been fighting and people getting hurt and killed and awful shit
i guess maybe some people think that stuff is exciting but honestly it makes me kinda sick
no subject
at least, as best you can.
but yeah, that's not the fun part of the job.
people getting hurt.
no subject
anyway you gotta have more stories than that
thats why you made this whole post right
youve got something youre dying to talk about and youre lookin for an excuse
come on my sis is the closest thing the human race had left to a psychologist back home ive got the armchair shrink basics down pat by now
no subject
i bet you're great when you put your mind to it!
actually, now that you mention it, a lot of my stories aren't all that exciting either.
my local clean up work is all a bit recent.
before that, i was special ops.
[There is Definitely a purpose to this post, but it is not that, and she's gotten further and further away from the answer she actually wanted to hear.]
you said she was your twin, yeah?
is that thing about being able to read each other's minds true?
or being able to tell when the other is in a pinch?
or anything like that?
no subject
jesus thats my worst nightmare dont even suggest that
she already knows what im thinking 90% of the time like fuck do i want her in my head for real
nah we look out for each other the old fashioned way
tome travel and precognition
no subject
precognition must be a real drag though.
surprise birthday parties would be a complete bust!
no subject
she can only see the best possible outcomes of things and how to get to there
surprise parties are neutral enough to get overlooked
unless like one really fucking hates surprises and avoiding such a party would be the best possible outcome i guess
no subject
well that's a little better.
i think.
what's your limit on time travel?
no subject
idk there isnt exactly a walkthrough on this shit
were mostly figuring it out ourselves
there was this ghost girl who seemed to have it all worked out but listening to her was insufferable so yeah fuck that
not like it really matters anyway
knowing the correct translation of my classpect and understanding the subtleties of what it means for me as a person and all that isnt gonna change how i use it
no subject
was just curious.
i haven't met any other time travelers before!
though im not sure if what i do is actually time travel.
but that's what they all told me.
no subject
real time travel is awful and likely to get you killed repeatedly
youre better off with what youve got trust me
