Mom's home, hide the beer [video]

I've got good news: Reinhardt and Brainy are both stable and safely tucked into healing pods. They're both expected to make full recoveries.

I figured I'd get that out there up front. The rest is going to get long, so it's split into parts.

I'd prefer to look at it from a sane person's position. [Which is to say, neither of their positions, but hey, semantics.] You think he's an ass, fine, but he's been here for a while and he wouldn't still be a Legionnaire if he was incompetent. There's video footage of every fucking mission that every single one of us has been on. Refusing to take that into account is ignoring the evidence, Judge Beeny.

And your own experience includes going on a mission with Dave where he used his powers as part of our opening strategy, helped nonfatally take down the Legion of Supervillains, and participated in the mission's success. Are you going to ignore that too?

I never said he was incompetent. Just not reliable. There's no denying that he's effective, but he's also not professional. I can see that he's your friend, so your judgement may not be objective here, but I'd think that a military veteran would understand the value of projecting a professional persona and supplying information that could be mission-essential.

Yes, we should certainly expect our children to behave as if they were veteran soldiers, and not children.

Your point about professionalism may have a certain amount of merit when it comes to interacting with civilians, and the UP may consider him and others his age adults, but the fact remains that he is young, and a certain amount of indulgence is necessary, and perhaps gentle reprimand if they are stubborn, instead of a declaration that acting their age makes them unreliable.

Unless you believe we should treat children as if they were soldiers, and expect them to act like it? Though I wouldn't think the Legion would want anyone with such a callous opinion.

When I was his age, I was already on the streets, enforcing the Law. Most of my peers were still getting ready for their hotdog run, their Cursed Earth Evaluation Test. An attitude like that would've gotten me reprimanded at best and expelled at worst.

Admittedly, most juves couldn't be Cadets. That's why there's only a few thousand of us and a few million of them. But you'll forgive me if I hold the people I'm expected to trust in a fight to a higher standard than your average cit.
