[The video comes on and Vance is...red. Cheeks, face, neck. Even his ears are red. It takes a moment for him to clear his throat.]
Uh...
Right. I apparently needed a reminder to never Google myself. Or, you know, whatever the equivalent is in the future. But is this usually a thing these days?
I mean, maybe I should be more used to this from the Avengers. I know they did this sort of thing back home sometimes, but...yeah.
I also never want to see the fan art. I love you, Rich, but...no.

This little story one of them linked sure is, ah, interesting and I have to say, they really did capture the essence of my wit. Uncanny.
[He thumbs the story window back up and starts to read in a dramatic voice, even imitating Judy during her dialogue.]
"His heart quivered in his chest (at a rate of 95 beats per minute, which was higher than natural for foxes)" -- a fun and informative fox fact for all you non-foxes out there -- "as he stood there, the rain dripping through the fur of his face. Had she really said those words?
'Judy, he whispered in a hushed breath. 'I thought -- I thought you were only interested in other bunnies.'
'Love is love,' she whispered breathily."
Indeed it is. Wise words.
[He thumbs through more of it.] The dramatic scene where I go over a waterfall and you think I'm dead is pretty good. That ground's already been tread, because we've done a waterfall already, but it's not like they have our autobiographies, and this time it was just me going over it.
Also, little known fact -- so little known that I didn't even know it -- but apparently in our home culture, clothes are entirely optional. Not just in naturalist communities or clubs. Everywhere.

That and this fanfic version of me spends over half her time worrying over how other animals would react. Like I'd let that stop me if there was anything going on between us.

Oh come on. [He quickly holds up a paw placatingly, quickly trying to recover.] Noooot that you haven't made a lot of progress. You have. And I appreciate that.
[He says it with a great deal of sincerity.]
Especially since you care if you get something wrong, enough to change it. Not many people do that. Not many people care. At all.
But that's an entirely different thing than taking this [he gestures vaguely at his face] home to the parents for a "guess who's coming to dinner" situation. Your parents are nice people and they have that business partner you told me about, but a business partner and police partner are not the same thing as a partner...partner.
And even if your parents accepted it, there's the entire rest of the world that wouldn't. Not that, you know, we have any kind of thing of any kind, but are you seriously trying to tell me that wouldn't affect your decisions at all? Not even a tiny bit?

[This was what Judy did. When she made choices, she didn't do things slowly. She jumped right into them with a look of determination on her face.]
Of course, this is all academic, since nothing's actually happening.

[Still, the expression he gives judy is...impressed maybe? A little moved? Not that he has any feelings for her, no sir, but just that she's grown enough to have that kind of attitude, and that she's taken the time to see a whole group of people differently, and --]
[And it's a lot of things.]
[Mostly, it's knowing she went from "you're a real articulate fella" to this, it's --]
Still...good on you, Carrots. Academic or not, you've -- I just mean...
Well.
It was what it was and you --
[He breaks off and scratches the back of his neck.]
You know what I mean.
