I was looking up bars down on Earth, but this one club I came across sounds like it might be good for this group. There's a whole separate part of it that's got entertainment for the 14-18 set, apparently. Antigrav moon bounce, stuff like that.

Equally relevant to our interests: no cover charge for Legionnaires.

I'll be down by the threshold hub to head out at seven. Be there or be square.

[ Hal has completely forgotten that the legal drinking age in the United Planets is 14.

Hal does not realize that the younger-targeted section of this club is in fact equally well-equipped for that particular entertainment.

When a Lantern dies, their ring seeks out its next owner on its own. They seem to choose pretty well, most of the time.

How many rings are there in circulation, then?

At the time just before I was brought here, 7200. We split the universe into 3600 patrol sectors, two Lanterns per. That's flexible, though - when I first got my ring, we just had 3600 and didn't work with sector partners.

In this era? No clue. Everyone here talks about Green Lanterns like they're something out of old legend, but I'd be surprised if there aren't still some of us out there somewhere. It's no small feat to destroy a ring.

Not even ten thousand for the entire universe? How expansive are those abilities?

Pretty expansive. There are only two limiting factors - your own imagination, and your will to make it happen.

Mostly, we use hard light constructs, but it's possible to do a lot of other things if you want it badly enough.

Would it be rude if I assumed that a great number of you are inventors or artists?

Some are. I don't know about a great number, though.

We're chosen based on willpower, so you get all types.

It makes sense. If it's an ability that manifests indirectly from your body, then your mental faculties would be the most important thing to account for.

Does the use of that power affect you adversely? Since it doesn't seem like it's a natural part of you.

For Green Lanterns, not really.

Lanterns on the rest of the spectrum, it screws with their heads a little more.

Tell me more. Somehow, interstellar police factions seem like a rather important thing to know about.

There's a full emotional spectrum that the rings run off of - green's willpower, in the middle, so its effect on your mental state isn't a problem. That'd be why the Guardians decided to harness it for peacekeeping in the first place.

The extreme ends are rage and love, though, and running off of those can really mess with your perspective.

The green ones came first; the Guardians of the Universe made them. The others came later, and were all made by different people.
