[ Videl is in the cafeteria having lunch when she turns on her omnicom. She looks uncharacteristically pale and is touching her free hand to her forehead. ]

Hey, um... has anybody been noticing anything weird about themselves since we got back from Braal?

[ Very vague, she knows. How do you ask this kind of question? Instead of stumbling through an unnecessarily confusing explanation, she instead turns her comm over to focus the camera on her left forearm. A portion of her skin, perhaps a handspan in length, has turned a metallic grey, glinting under the cafeteria light. ]

I'm sure it wasn't there when we got back. I didn't notice it at all until like right now. It doesn't itch or anything, but...

[ She brings the comm in really close, trying to give people a better look at the bizarre anomaly on her skin. With awkward balance, she taps it with her fingernail. It makes a very quiet 'tink, tink' sound. ]

Do you think I should go to the med bay?

[He laughs. He can't help it, she sounds so sulky. Like a cat that's been picked up off your lap and set six inches to the left.]

[ Videl does a double-take at the comm, running over Jason's words in her head a second time or two. ]

I think you mean "on a fungus farm."

Nah. I was one of the first people to arrive here. Accidentally opened a package meant for Brainiac 5 and got a load of fungal spores in my face for my troubles.

I spent about a month in quarantine growing mushrooms and half a month shedding them.

It sucked.

[It really did, but he sounds more amused at the idea in retrospect than anything else.]

[ A visible shudder runs the length of Videl's body. She can feel her skin crawl, which is kind of an accomplishment considering it's current state. She picks up her pace a little. ]

Gross. Maybe I actually lucked out that I'm just turning into metal.

When I get back from the Med, remind me to learn where Braniac keeps his stuff so I can be sure to avoid it.
