End of the Line [audio] [endgame]

[It has begun. With Apokolips so heavily damaged, the villains have genuinely had their backs pushed against a wall. They can't move it from where it is, so to avoid an orbital bombardment by the UP military, they have to move themselves. Pouring through stolen T-gates modified into boom tubes and through he Penitent's portals, Catastrophists and monsters have started to attack various UP worlds - but without much organization.]

[That means the Legion has at least one advantage here. During their short reprieve they managed to regroup and get ready to dispatch again fully prepared for a fight. The Catastrophists, on the other hand, are being tossed out into a conflict they're unprepared for with the expectation that they'll win through sheer numbers instead of tactics, experience, or skill.]

[After their respective briefings on the situations they're dropping into, as they gear up and prepare to launch from the threshold room and the Legion cruisers, Kid Quantum's words come to them over their comms:]

Brainy's plan to get to the missing Legionnaires, and then to the Miracle Machine using Star Boy's powers, is ready to deploy. But he says that the machine feeds on the background consciousness of sentients in the galaxies around it. Right now - to the surprise of no one - the United Planets and Second Galaxy are facing mass panic. Our job is to change that by the time Brainy pulls the Miracle Machine into our universe - or we risk having it fade from existence.

[Which will be no easy task.]

This isn't just a typical rescue mission or disaster response: we have to inspire hope. Galaxy-wide.

Now, the place we're starting from isn't a bad one. We've worked hard to bring the team where it's at right now. Some of you had to push through grief and loss to believe in the team again. Some of you had to dig deep and find a sense of idealism and connection to others to give you the strength to endure. Some of you had to push your usual worldview to the side and work with others you might never have allied with otherwise.

Regardless of how each of you relates to the team and its cause, the fact remains that your ability to adapt and survive is admirable - even exceptional.

[Some of them have embraced everything the team is wholeheartedly. Others have only adapted to the team and its ideals and protocols in their surface behavior. But it doesn't matter. That adaptability and willingness to work differently for the greater good is something to be proud of.]

But that alone isn't going to be enough for us to win today. And even though we have something worthwhile to fight for - the lives of countless innocents, our home worlds and loved ones, and even each other - the purity of our convictions and the importance of our cause aren't going to be enough to let us win, not all by themselves.

[Her voice changes from something stern and commander-like, to a tone that's far more dry.]

No, it's the absolute levels sprocking nass we've had to put up with so far. Government corruption poised against us, betrayals by people that claimed to be allies, cosmic beings that may as well have been gods, gladiatorial death arenas, the Time Trapper's otherworldly scenarios, spies and madmen and angels of the apocalypse - even giant planet-eating men in stupid hats. And so much more.

[An entire year of trials and triumphs, all in a row.]

We've dealt with such unbelievable levels of nass that the UP should have us on its payroll as sewage treatment engineers.

The forces poised against us thought they could destroy us or make us weaker and instead they just made us mad.

So when everyone looks back on this day they're not going to say it was the best we ever were, they're not going to say that we rose to new heights. Instead, they're going to say, "The Legion brought hope to the entire galaxy..." [Amusement enters her voice.] "Business as sprocking usual."

Chronoblivion and Its forces thought they could force their way into this universe and do whatever the sprock they wanted. Time to put them on their asses and show them the door.

Let's go, Legionnaires.

[ You know what. He's incredibly raw after his little emotional downpour, more than a little frustrated at everything, and has been looking for an excuse to drop the F bomb lately.

This seems like a good time for it. ]

Hear fucking hear.
