The Cavalry [endgame plotpost] [video]
[A lot of things that have happened have made it seem like nothing is going in their favor, but now they have a lead on finding a weapon to defeat Chronoblivion, know how to find the missing Legionnaires and...well. Sometimes the Time Trapper actually does something useful.]
[Sometimes.]
Listen up, Legion. I need you all to get ready to dispatch tomorrow morning at 0500. Once Brainy's finished his preparations for retrieving the lost Legionnaires and the Miracle Machine, we need to move.
Also, while nothing's been confirmed, I have a feeling we're going to be seeing some activity from Chronoblivion's forces soon, because the Time Trapper sent us a little backup and it was probably for good reason.
[She can't help but smile at least a little.]
Which is to say that even though the rift on Phelolu sealed up, there are a few people that just suddenly appeared on the bridge that want to say hello.
[ooc: This is where returning characters can announce their return, get updated on what they've missed, reconnect with old friends, and maybe make some new ones before shit hits the fan.]

Detective Hopps-Wilde, reporting in. Hey guys!

Now that they're in the same reality, though, it takes him a long time to think of a way to actually say hello. He's not exactly going to open with not having seen another sentient rabbit in centuries. Or even that they're still clearly not the same variety of sentient rabbit, what with her being clearly (to him) mortal.
She won't share the past he knows, she won't know the culture he knows anymore than he's familiar with hers, but he's still got to say g'day. It's been so long since he got to have a conversation with another rabbit. He expected it was going to be forever.]
G'day Detective. You're from a world with more sentient species than just humans, I got that, so tell me this - is caffeine still toxic for as many species in your world as it is in mine, or did you all evolve around that?
no subject
[Judy needs a few moments to process. He's obviously not the kind of rabbit she was familiar with, just like Rocket wasn't the kind of raccoon she was familiar with. He obviously came from a far different culture than she did, which didn't change the fact that he was naked
She breathes. She was an adult, she was a detective, she could handle this maturely.]
Sorry, it's just, um...yeah.
We actually don't have humans at all. And caffeine's definitely not an issue. Nick would live entirely off of coffee if he could. That, and blueberries.

Like gardeners. Or backup dancers for pop stars.
[He hadn't gotten a complete view.]

[Maybe that explains the 'giant' part, but why in the world is the 'naked' part even an issue . . . ?]
And you're a small, clothed bunny. I get the small part, don't get the 'clothed' part. But if that's the case - I owe you and the other Detective a lot more chocolate than I've got on hand, but I saved enough for one-time gifts.
[There's a pair of chocolate eggs in his bugout stash that match Judy's pink shirt and one of the many colors on Nick's, and they'll find each hidden near their sweet potatoes soon, delivered by quick sleight of hand in places just right to be found by them, not anybody else, even in this crowded environment.]
I'll just have to owe you the rest until we defeat Chronoblivion.
no subject
[Sure, the universe is dying, yada yada yada, but apparently it's all sweet potatoes right now? He's at least finishing this thing, since who knows when he'll get his paw on another cup anytime soon, and cosmic monsters would have to pry it from his cold, dead paws.]
If we didn't evolve that way, my stomach needs to be pumped innnn -- [He checks his watch.] -- about ten minutes ago.
[He takes another sip almost compulsively.]
no subject
[Because he's too busy planning the perfect distraction to "hide" Nick and Judy's welcome gifts of chocolate near to them enough that they'll find them before anybody else does, in this crowded environment. It's going to take some planning.]

[Judy's not the only one with a wedding band. Nick also hasn't changed out of his clothes and into his Legion uniform yet. Unlike Judy, his clothes don't look like work clothes any more than they did before before. He's still wearing what he wore as civilian clothes in the Legion: a tacky Hawaiian printed shirt, a tie that gives the vaguest pretense of formality, and sunglasses.]
[The only difference is now he's got his badge on a chain around his neck.]
[One of the best perks of making detective was ditching his uniform blues. The tie is the only thing that lets him get away with dressing like this, and even then, Chief Bogo only barely tolerates it.]
We've been gone two whole years and you guys still haven't saved the universe yet? Tsk tsk. Times-a-wasting.
How many giant, planet-eating human-slash-sharks are we looking at now?

I'm guessing you got a promotion?

I'd say you didn't miss much, but you missed so much that Brainy's a dad now and Legion World got blown up, making it so we have to live in a wet box.
You missed stuff like that.

This isn't exactly what we were planning on doing today, but I can't say we weren't hoping to finally be able to take this thing out.

As you can see, we live in a shoebox now.

[There's no bite to it. Actually she seems half-way between giddy and anxious. There are a lot of people she's really missed.]
[Oh.]
[Old faces came back but somehow it hadn't occurred to him that Pidge would? Maybe it was his brain protecting him by not even daring to hope.]
[But she's there. And he has a lot of things he wanted to say, all his "just in case we don't see each other again after this is over" stuff. And his heart is going pitter pat over the idea of even just hugging her again.]
[
He even has an awkward moment of telling his brain to shut up about missing how she smells.]Hi.
[He tries to make his voice sound casual but it sounds like the rusty door hinges of many of the hatches around Legion World. Squeaky and grating.]
[The tears start coming all on their own and there's no stopping them. They're silent, with no sobbing, just streaming down over his cheeks like someone left a faucet on.]
[He scrubs his cheeks frantically with his palms.]
Uh, you can go ahead and ignore that.
Where are you right now?

The two of them hadn't ended well. They hadn't ended poorly either. They hadn't ended. She'd been excited for whatever was coming in the future and then she just woke up one morning back in the junk pile on the floor of her old room. She'd tried to contact them, but none of the technology she had was powerful enough to make the connection between universes and she suspected her coordinates were wrong anyway.
He's...oh no, don't. Don't do that. She starts to speak but her voice hitches on the first word. She shakes her head and starts again, a little more steady.]
In-in the labs. Nnnnnot really a lot of privacy here though.
[Legion World was so beautiful. If she wasn't about to cry from happiness, she'd be about to cry in grief for that ship, not just because she's really feeling the cramped space. Maybe they can go somewhere else, maybe they can pull some shelves and boxes into a privacy screen, whatever. She just needs to see him.]
