[Widowmaker had finally extracted herself from all the rigamarole that surrounded a new arrival to make her way to the Mess Hall. With a cup of something almost as blue as the color of her skin sitting on the table before her along with her rifle in its shorter Assault mode, she set the omnicom up so she didn't have to hold it in her hand.

What she did have in her hand was the ring they'd given her upon taking that oath. As if an oath was binding...]

I can certainly understand the need for a vetting process, but it appears to be rather pointless to subject would-be saviors to such repetitive examinations when the results do not change. What is the phrase...? [She idly rolled the ring between her fingers as she thought a moment.] Ah, yes. 'Beggars can't be choosers.'

Perhaps I am simply... special. [There was a slight upturn of her lips at that last word.]

Running in alone. Forgetting that there are solutions here that don't exist back home. Nearly getting killed because some asshole put a gun to my head.

There are two people here who can create force fields and two who can stop time. If you think she'll take the shot, go for the solution where she doesn't get that opportunity.

I wasn't kidding when I said we needed you.

[On one hand, he doesn't know Tracer nearly well enough to be pulling that line. On the other hand, Tracer is a teammate, and teammates get protected to the fullest extent of his ability, full stop.]

[Maybe its the idea that she's too important to lose, or maybe its the fact that Wash unconsciously reminded her of the fact that she'd let Widowmaker get the shot the first time, but her mind has pretty much made up itself.

Rather than be mad about it, she scoffs -- all cockiness and spitfire to force down any bile she'd previously had in her throat.]

Come on, love. You lot don't need me anymore than you need her.

[Wink. And that's the end of that transmission.]
