video (backdated before Out with the Old/Books of Magic)
Okay, let me see if I’ve got this straight.
[ The feed opens on Videl with her usual judgmental expression, but she’s now sporting a significantly more stylish haircut than the last time anyone saw her. ]
It’s been ten years, and you guys still haven’t beaten Chronoblivion? What have you been doing all this time?
[ Further complaining is interrupted by a rustling noise next to her. Videl turns to look to her left and some indistinct mumbling can be heard off screen. ]
It hasn’t been ten years here? Well, how long has it been? [ More mumbling. Videl groans impatiently. ] You’re no help at all.
[ She returns her attention to the camera feed, running her fingers through her hair as she tries to call back memories she’s left untouched for years. It may not be evident by her appearance, but ten years have passed since Videl and Gohan disappeared from an off-world mission around Valor Day. ] I don’t see what the Time Trapper thinks he’s going accomplish by dragging us back now, after all this time. I haven’t been at the top of my game since before Pan was born and Gohan’s training is sporadic at best.
[ She heaves a sigh. Videl’s frustration is only surface-level though; deep down, she’s a flurry of excitement about the idea of reliving her glory days. ]
Anyone mind helping an old lady get up to speed? Last I remember, Gohan and I were on a mission on either Rimbor or Bgztl and it was getting close to Christmas. Or whatever they call Christmas here.

Right, you see? I'm barely making it as a teenager. I don't want to think about how I'm gonna get away with being an adult.
So... Who's Pan?
video;
Pan's my daughter. Mine and Gohan's. [ She can't help a bit of a blush. It's weird talking about kids with a friend who, just a few weeks ago, knew Videl and Gohan during the awkward early phase of their dating experience. ] She's four years old now and already spends most of her day training with her grandfather, except for when I'm forcing her to go to preschool.
video;
Wait, your kid is... training? At four?!
[??????]
video;
Okay, before you go thinking I'm a bad mother, I swear neither Gohan nor I put her up to it. Pan has never been a normal child, even when she was a baby. She figured out how to fly before she could even walk, for crying out loud, and her two favorite babysitters are her battle-crazy grandpa and Gohan's mentor. Not to mention she's one quarter Saiyan and apparently their whole race was battle maniacs. Fighting is basically in her blood in a way it wasn't for Gohan or even me. We had to let Goku and Piccolo start training Pan so early so she wouldn't hurt herself with her power.
[ It's pretty clear that Videl worries about her abnormally strong child. Allowing a kid to start training before even hitting the most basic developmental milestones was tough for Videl to deal with at first. She's gotten better at containing those worries since Pan has been growing up (more or less) normally, but a child's safety is something that every good parent obsesses over. ]
video;
...
Your kid can fly. And fight. And she's four years old.
What the hell, man.
video;
[ Videl can't help her emphatic agreement. ]
I'm telling you, it's that Saiyan blood. Gohan learned how to fly when he was four, maybe five, and his little brother learned when he was seven. And Goten figured it out like 'that.' [ She snaps her fingers in emphasis. ] I worked my butt off just to get an inch off the ground when we were learning and that little brat was flying circles around me.
video;
[processing.
PROCESSING...]
That's weird. You're all weird.
video;
I used to think exactly the same thing. I didn't even used to believe that flying was possible at all; my dad had me convinced that it was all just a bunch of tricks. Smoke and mirrors kind of stuff.
But it really is possible to fly. It's all about using your inner ki. You'd have to get Gohan to explain it to you, though. [ Videl says, waving it off. ] I had a hard enough time just doing it, much less understanding it.
video;
But I'm still not that into it. Webswinging feels better to me. More liberating.
video;
Webswinging always looked like it'd be a total rush. [ She says with a nod. ] Flying can be like that sometimes, especially when you haven't mastered it.
