[video] Show Me Your Moves
[The camera bobs and judders as someone sets it up, catching flashes of a scruffy, unkempt face and pale arms and the sky for a moment.]
Okay so I've been thinking, we've got super powers here, right?
[The picture steadies pointing out at what appears to be a beach, but is more likely to just be a simulated section of beach on the Legion World. It falls over, and Grif swears as he rights it again.]
...Anyway. By super powers I mean amazing things you couldn't do before, because otherwise you're just from some world where you can do cool stuff most of us can't and that's not superpowers, that's just life being unfair to the rest of us.
[Satisfied that the comm is stable, Grif steps out in front of it as he continues.]
So, I want to see what you guys can do. And because I am all about being fair, I'm going first.
[He swings his arms a little, takes a couple breaths, then bolts to the waterline. He's nothing but a speed blur followed by a trail of thrashed sand. He stops at the surf and charges back just as quickly. At the end he's doubled over in front of the camera, hands on his knees, huffing and wheezing.]
Whoo!
[He laughs as he catches his breath, which makes it somewhat harder, and is grinning despite how much that tiny display of super speed seems to have taken out of him. In good shape, this guy is not.]
It's like... it feels like everything's normal speed to me when I do it and everything's all slowed down. It's crazy shit, man.
[Grif plunks down heavily in the sand and picks up the comm again, still visibly panting.]
So. That's me. Show me what you got.
((OOC: Feel free to threadhop each other and talk about powers if you like! Grif is encouraging sharing.))

What's your power? Creeping up on people who are trying to do a good public service to help the team?
[You know, because this was clearly altruism and not him wanting to see awesome feats of cool stuff.]
no subject
Of course not. I'm a thief. I don't need super powers to sneak up on people, especially people who aren't even paying attention to their surroundings.
[Beat.]
I can take people's powers away.

[Now she's back to just sounding bemused again.]
And I guess I can't take them, because that implies that I could do something with them. I just stop them from working for a little bit.
[A pause.]
It's touch-based, not Ay-oh-Ee.
[She's dating a computer nerd, she knows some of the lingo.]

[Grif is, among other things, loud.]
no subject
I don't need to test it on you, I already know it works.
[She just demonstrated it on him. Completely different thing.]
no subject
PUT IT BACK!
no subject
[She looks thoughtful for a moment.]
I've never tried to see if I could stop making people's powers stop working. We could test that if you wanted!
no subject
Yes, do that!
no subject
[She points down at the sand.]
Sit.

no subject
How do you activate your powers?
no subject
I just think about doing it and it happens?
[He shrugs.]
no subject
'Think about it' how? Do you tense your muscles? Do you think about where you're going to run? Do you remember what it feels like to run at that speed?
no subject
It's like... I don't know, you think about kicking something and then you do it? It's like that. I just do it, what do you want?
no subject
You're the one who wants his powers back before mine wear off. I'm trying to figure out how to do it. Your power is physical, so sense memory might help.
Do you perceive things at super-speed when you're running, or is everything just a blur?
no subject
[He scrunches up his brows as he thinks about it.]
It's not like time stops or anything, that would be an entirely different thing.
[And probably cooler.]
no subject
[Pause.]
Because if you can trigger it without moving, that would be pretty cool. Annoying and slow, but you could see and react to incoming projectiles.

[Grif scowls down the beach instead of at Parker, this time. Progress?]
I don't know, I haven't noticed.
That sounds really, really boring though.
no subject
[Parker's eyes narrow.]
If my hitter has super-speed and didn't tell me, I'm gonna thump him.
no subject
[He has a reputation to maintain! ...Or build.]
I mostly let other people do that.
And what's a hitter?
no subject
[Parker seems genuinely confused by this statement.]
Someone who hits things. And kicks things. And gets hit and kicked sometimes. It's pretty self-explanatory. He taught me how to choke a man out with my thighs, it's pretty cool.
no subject
[Grif shrugs casually.]
It's what I'm for.
[And in response to that other bit: wait what]
Why?
no subject
[Parker is judging you, Grif. Not doing anything is like mixing your blue and black pens together in the same cup: weird.]
I'm not sure. He taught everyone on the team to at least throw a punch. Maybe he thought it would cut down on the number of times I stabbed people with forks.
