[The camera bobs and judders as someone sets it up, catching flashes of a scruffy, unkempt face and pale arms and the sky for a moment.]

Okay so I've been thinking, we've got super powers here, right?

[The picture steadies pointing out at what appears to be a beach, but is more likely to just be a simulated section of beach on the Legion World. It falls over, and Grif swears as he rights it again.]

...Anyway. By super powers I mean amazing things you couldn't do before, because otherwise you're just from some world where you can do cool stuff most of us can't and that's not superpowers, that's just life being unfair to the rest of us.

[Satisfied that the comm is stable, Grif steps out in front of it as he continues.]

So, I want to see what you guys can do. And because I am all about being fair, I'm going first.

[He swings his arms a little, takes a couple breaths, then bolts to the waterline. He's nothing but a speed blur followed by a trail of thrashed sand. He stops at the surf and charges back just as quickly. At the end he's doubled over in front of the camera, hands on his knees, huffing and wheezing.]

Whoo!

[He laughs as he catches his breath, which makes it somewhat harder, and is grinning despite how much that tiny display of super speed seems to have taken out of him. In good shape, this guy is not.]

It's like... it feels like everything's normal speed to me when I do it and everything's all slowed down. It's crazy shit, man.

[Grif plunks down heavily in the sand and picks up the comm again, still visibly panting.]

So. That's me. Show me what you got.

[Tadashi grimaces and it's almost a full-body reaction.]

...I'm really not good with large amounts of fire right now.

[He swaps his omnicomm to his right hand so he can show off the wide metal (?) band he's wearing on his left wrist. It has buttons and something that's probably be a readout screen.]

But until we figure out if I'm basically an over-excited blow-torch, I've got this fun new toy to play with. So, you know, I won't be accidentally lighting anyone on fire during training or anything.

[Been around enough to know what that means, and he just nods with understanding. Say no more.]

Hm... Yeah you'll probably be better off taking it easy there for a while. We'll figure out somethin'. [Eventually.]

Least' they got you covered, if that's what's keeping you from lighting up.

I might not be planning on joining the Legion but you need any help, come find me.

Oh yeah, no, this isn't coming off any time soon. It's surprisingly comfortable actually, I shouldn't have to take it off to sleep either.

[He smiles self-deprecatingly.]

I've always been a big proponent of 'someone has to help', and if I can, I'd like to. Worst case scenario, I have my robotics skills to fall back on.

Got any combat experience? From the looks of things you're gonna need it.

[He might be willing to help with that in a non standard, non official capacity.]

Can't argue with that, but with things as they stand now it's as good a time as any to step out of the fight. I'll help in another way.

[There's not much he can do aside from figuring things out and wait to see how 'training' goes. He offers a small smile in return but tips his head up at the mention of robotics.]

Y'don't say? What kind of robots we talkin'?

Not especially. But that's what training is for, right?

[At least he's got some karate training under his belt. It'll at least be a start.]

True, but I really want to help, and it seems like that's where they need people, you know?

[Tadashi lights up like a Christmas tree when Duo asks him about robotics. It's pretty clear where his passion lies.]

I'm a student at San Fransokyo Institute of Technology -- which might not exist where you're from, but it's a really great university for science and technology. My goal is to improve healthcare around the world, and in pursuit of that goal, I created a personal healthcare companion nursebot, called Baymax. Baymax has a carbon-fiber skeleton, allowing him to lift a thousand pounds, wrapped up in an inflatable vinyl casing which gives him a huggable, non-threatening quality. His 'eyes' are actually hyperspectral cameras, allowing him to analyze and diagnose a variety of injuries and illnesses; and he's programmed with 10,000 different medical procedures and a courteous and comforting personality. He's also program to respond immediately to the sound of pain, and to return to his charging station when informed that the user is satisfied with their care.

[Tadashi pauses, looking abashed.]

Sorry, I've been practicing my elevator speech. Baymax is almost ready for testing outside the lab environment, I'm really excited about it. He's going to help a lot of people.

Yeah, and I've already had my fair share of that.

I get they need to increase their ranks, and we're prime candidates, but far as I can see they need help across the board. If they need me, I'll help, but I'm not all too interested in becoming a legionnaire officially.

[He listens to the very descriptive 'elevator speech' and nearly chuckles when Tadashi describes it as such. It's a pretty neat little concept, and he'd admit he'd want one since a medical robot would be extremely useful in a war torn Earth Sphere.]

Yeaaah, the San-fransokyo? Never heard of it.

I'd be excited to if I invented something as impressive sounding as that. I got some engineering experience as well. Made a particle beam mini copter a couple years back. Had help, but it was pretty cool. [And then having it modified into an actual universal tool later on.]

Oh no, I'm not saying that you should join the Legion because of that, or anyone else. That's just why I'm doing it. I don't know anything about you or your life, if the best way you can help and keep yourself healthy is to not join the Legion full-time, definitely don't join up. Looking out for yourself is important too, you don't help anyone by burning yourself out trying to do it.

[Tadashi looks pleased with the praise of Baymax, and leans forward when Duo talks about his particle beam mini-copter]

That seems pretty handy too! One of my friends -- the one I mentioned earlier, actually -- is working on magnetic-levitation technology. Mostly with the goal of making a faster bike.

[He smiles fondly at memory of GoGo's utter disgust at his purchase of a scooter, and her immediate offer to 'soup it up'.

More power to ya, man. I probably would be decent at it, but... [He just shrugs.] Play the cards we're dealt, some times you gotta fold.

And yeah, I been lookin' out for a lot of people for along time. It's time to take care of myself for a while. I'll spare ya the details but things were kinda rough.

[He chuckles a bit.]

They still have it, the science police do. I'll pick it up eventually.

When I get that thing back I'll show it to ya. Might even tell ya about' our other tech back home.

Well, they do have an on-call therapist for just that reason, apparently. I've made my first appointment already.

Probably. I think she's pretty easy to get along with, but I'm biased.

That'd be awesome! I don't know if I'd be able to reverse-engineer anything, but it'd be really interesting to see if we can figure out where our respective world's pasts started changing and how that affected technology...

Heh. Suppose that would be the responsible thing to do but I'm not ready to have a sit down with a shrink yet.

[He'll cope.] Y'know even if this is all completely insane.

[A small shrug. What're you gonna do?]

Seems like talented people tend to attract each other. For the most part.
