[video] Introductions are a thing you do, right?

[A rather awkward and uncomfortable looking 15 year-old boy with extremely unkempt hair comes over the video feed. He's obviously not used to things like this.]

[Namely: Being social in any capacity with people outside his class.]

Uh. H-hello, my name is M-Midoriya Izuku, U.A. Superhero High School class 1-A. Not that, um, not that anyone probably knows what that is, alternate universes and all...

[He catches himself slouching as his words drift off to almost whisper-quiet, his bashful nature getting the better of him. He quickly sits back upright, and speaks louder.]

I've just joined the Legion, and so I'd like to introduce myself. Which I...just did. Right. My, uh, my hero name is Deku, which is also my nickname back home, so feel free to call me that...if you want to, of course...

[Normally, he wouldn't be nearly this flustered, but being told you're going to face an unspeakable evil of cosmic, universe eating proportions can do that to a person.]

A-Anyway! I just want to say, I might be young and inexperienced, but I look forward to working with you all!

[Please, someone tell this child to unclench. At this rate it seems like he might pass out from awkwardness if left to his own devices.]

Relax. You're around friends here. I'm Judy. Judy Hopps. Do you prefer Izuku or Deku?

[A friendly looking blond team who looks like he could be your typical American High School football star, except for the glasses and scar on his lip, appears on the screen. He's attempting to look reassuring because, hey, he's been there.]

Hi Midoriya...or Deku I guess. I'm Jason Grace, or just Jason. It took me ages to come up with my superhero name -- never had to have one before. I eventually just went with Bolts though. I'm still pretty new too but I've been doing my best to figure this place out if you'd like a small tour.

[He looks sheepish]

This place is so big, I can't promise that I don't still get a little lost if it's anywhere other than crew quarters or the mess hall -- figured those two out pretty fast.

But, hey, you're not the only one here who is younger -- I've met several people around my age along with adults as well. Some of us may even have more experience than than some of the adults when it comes to having powers, so I think it all evens out a little.

[He hopes that's reassuring. He's at least trying to be.]

So you said you're from U.A. Superhero High School? I guess I shouldn't be too surprised that in some universe there's a whole high school for superheroes. After all, where I'm from there are two whole camps for demigod children. What's superhero high school like?

[Rebecca doesn't really know how to use phones well, but she thinks she's getting the hang of it. This poor guy!]

Ah...hello, Midoriya! [It's time to put on her best cheer! She's not sure which name to call him at all, but she'll try the more polite route.] I'm Rebecca. How old are you? You look like you're my age.

[And that's a plus in her book! She likes being around people her age, there were so many adults in her army.]

I thought so! I've only been sixteen for a few months myself. I hope we get along well, then.

[He seems a little uneasy still. Poor guy.]

You said your nickname is Deku, right? What's that mean?

[He laughs, dismissing it.]

Hey, don't worry. I get up around that time anyway. [Generally an hour later, but hey. The guy seemed nervous. Jason might rib him about it more if he didn't seem like one of those little mexican purse dogs.] I think everyone can understand being a little nervous in a new place.

I'm Jason. Amp when we're in costume, I guess. And, hey, don't worry about being inexperienced or anything. Most of us are teenagers, it's not like anyone our age has a ton of hero experience, right? [Well, some people, like Gwen... Or, hey. Himself. But they kind of threw off the bell curve. That wasn't important now, though. Getting this guy to chill was.] What do you do?

HI DEKU! I'm Mabel!

[ Now he has no reason to feel bad about his early morning shouting. Because she's probably yelling louder now than he was. But more people around her and Dipper's age? It's exciting.

She also laughs and waves off his last comment.
]

You're older than me and my brother! And we didn't go to super hero school. I bet you'll be fine!

[Jason's just that ridiculously forgiving. Just ask the guy who tried to murder him that one time, now they're best friends. Or they were before things got dramatic.]

Pro-level? Licenses? You sound like Aizawa, man. [At least Jason's not sticking his foot in his mouth like he did with Aizawa.] It's kinda rough, I know, but from what I hear you'll end up going home at the same instant that you left. Think of this as some extra cram time, if it helps.

[Because all exams were pen and pencil, right? Right.]

So strong you can't handle it, huh? I'm not sure whether that's awesome or a nightmare. Sounds like you can tone it down when you want, at least?

[They're both on the same level when it comes to being able to talk about this stuff. One-For-All, the Morphing Grid, neither can open up without betraying a mentor's trust.]

[Jason can't help but laugh at the guess. Finally!] You know, you're the first person to get that? Everyone else always thinks I've got electrical powers. Dunno why. But, yeah. It's kind of situational, but I can amp up other people's powers. Or give normal people minor powers.

[Not that he's had a chance to put it to much use outside of training.]

I wouldn't worry about it! As long as you don't use your super power inside-- [ She leans in closer and whispers ] In front of anyone--Then you'll be fine!

Wait. What is your super power?

[Jason certainly felt more comfortable talking to the other teenagers -- though he'd held his own with the adults as well.]

That's right. I can also control the wind and use that to fly -- so the name fit for multiple reasons I think. I had a few other options I was considering -- but for me it was a little awkward coming up with a name. So I tried to go with one that wasn't too...[he searches for a word to use here.] pretentious.

[The way Deku talks makes Jason think that he wouldn't be judged if he admitted to having made a whole list of names before narrowing it down to Bolts. He still wasn't entirely sure of THAT choice either, but it was what he had landed on.]

Sounds tough. I guess you could look at this place as a sort of...study abroad program then? Not sure how you'll convince your school back home to accept it as credit though.

[He's partly joking. After all, they ARE technically here for a serious reason and to save the entire multiverse. But Jason's used to dangers on the global level, so upping the stakes hasn't really sunk in for him yet. He's also doing his best to make the conversation easy -- so he hopes that helps.

It's Jason's turn to look a little embarrassed now. Every time he mentions this he feels like he's bragging, because he has a feeling he knows what MOST people must think when they hear that term. But, it's just a part of who he is and he can't exactly lie about his parentage.
]

Ah...yeah. Do they have Greek or Roman mythology where you're from?

[This might get difficult to explain otherwise.]

[First of all, she only speaks Fantasy RPG, how dare he. Second, she's starting to get that distinct feeling that, yes, she's not making it easier on him somehow. It's a little disheartening. Is she bothering him?]

Ah...I'm sorry, Midoriya! I didn't know there were some unhappy feelings behind that name, even if they aren't the only feelings. But you're right, I don't speak Japanese. I've never actually heard of Japanese until now, but it has to be a language, right?

[This is her first time talking to someone from Japan, but she's heard about the translator...thing.]

Am I bothering you? I can always talk to you later, if you'd like, you seem a little uncomfortable with me.

This is quite the situation you've stumbled into, Midoriya.

[Here's your homeroom teacher, treating this like you totally asked for it.]

[Jason almost missed it but when he does look back at the screen and notice Deku writing furiously, he blinks in surprise. That...was new. He'd never seen someone take notes like that before.

He wonders if he should ask or just keep going. Jason opts to just keep going, he has a lot of friends with weird or odd habits, so the notebook is actually probably not as strange as it first seems. Although should he be worried that Deku is taking such extensive notes about what sounds like his abilities? He's muttering, so Jason isn't sure if he should address some of the boy's comments or not.

Right, he'll just let that go too. Deku could always just ask. Back to the matter at hand. Time for a crash course in the history of demigods
]

This will be a lot easier to explain then. Where I come from the gods, monsters, and legends you know from those mythologies are all real: Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, centaurs, satyrs, nymphs and hundreds of other gods, giants, and monsters all exist. They aren't as out in the open as they were in the height of Greek and Roman times though, instead they moved with humanity and right now their place of power is in North America. The gods still interact with mortals from time to time though, just like in the myths, and sometimes that interaction results in a demigod child.

[He pauses -- he's rushing over a lot, he knows, but he feels weird just saying all of this over the network.]

A child of one of the gods typically gets some of the abilities or traits that god is known for, so a son of Mars would be a very good fighter in battle or a daughter of Aphrodite might be naturally attractive or be able to use Charmspeak to get people to do what they want. But, because of that, we also tend to get hunted by monsters or targeted by other creatures that want to take revenge on our parents, fight us for glory, or sometimes just eat us.

[He doesn't mention his own parentage, cause he doesn't want to brag. He also switches between Roman and Greek god names because he is thinking of specific people while he talks about their parents. He hasn't been here long and already misses them.]

That's where the Camps I mentioned come into play. They are supposed to be both a place of safety and also a place to train to fight and use our abilities to survive out in the real world.

[Wow, that was a lot and he hadn't even gone into that much detail, Jason sighs.]

Sorry, I'm not used to talking that much.
