[AUDIO]
So, we've got a bunch of new people. If we haven't met yet, hey. I'm Jason Lee Scott. In the field, you can call me Amp. But Jason's fine pretty much anywhere else. It's great to meet all of you. I'd turn this into a general introduction and powers announcement thing, but I think I'd hurt Grif's feelings if I stole his gimmick.
But we are gonna get to know each other outside of the regular Legion-mandated training. Don't worry about that. See, I've been saving up my money, what I haven't been sending to charities supporting recovery efforts on Naltor and Winath...
[And here he pauses for a moment to insert links to information on those charities.]
...Yeah, anyway. Like I said, saving stuff there, and I've got enough to afford a three day retreat. I mean, last time we went to a beach and it was great, and free, but I figure one or two of us have had enough of swimsuits for a little while. So this time, I figured that I'd put it up for vote.
I'm looking at three choices here. No pictures, we'll let some things about this be a surprise.
Option one: Plain ol' camping in the woods. I can get us a reservation in Yellowstone. Apparently Old Faithful isn't quite so faithful anymore, but we've still got cliffs and trees and all of that. We can chat, maybe do a bit of training while we're there, explore, all that. It'd be great.
Option two, and this one is neat: There's a campsite that's actually on an asteroid. One that's got two others in a stable orbit around it. Apparently Brainiac 3 used to use it as a lab or something to work in private, but the Coluans have confiscated everything after they died and all we're left with is three huge asteroids with low level gravity and an atmosphere. They promised me that there aren't any killer robots. [They actually seemed a little offended that it had been a concern.]
Option three could be a bit risky, but it still sounds cool. This one mad scientist made this hollowed out planet and filled it with an artificial ecosystem. It's got a fake sun, atmosphere, giant mushrooms... It's a little humid, but there's already some buildings, bathrooms with showers, and cooking sites set up, complete with, uh. 'Primordial beast repelling sonic fields'. Probably not going to be too much of an issue if something gets curious, though. Gravity's going to be a little higher than Earth's, though. 1.2 Gs.
So, uh. Yeah! Vote for which one sounds good and I'll set everything up for us to get on a week or two from now. Same as last time, you guys just get a bit of say in it now. We can set up campfires, cook some s'mores, play some games, get to know each other when there isn't a big crisis going down... It'll be fun!

[AUDIO]
Of course I'd choose that one!
[Like going from the Earth to the Moon.]
[AUDIO]
[...He's said too much. He only realizes it a moment after the words leave his mouth.]
[AUDIO]
[At that, Aizawa stopped talking. Jason let him in on one piece of information he hadn't known at all.
They could do that?
He simply went silent.]
[AUDIO]
[Honestly, Jason should probably be more worried about himself. But, yes. The Legion's technicians could alter the gravity, temperature, and even the atmosphere of a habitat area! Force fields kept atmospheres from leaking, so creating low-oxygen environments would be child's play.
The big trouble would be convincing the technicians that you weren't insane for wanting to turn your living space into a danger zone.]
[AUDIO]
Rationally, you don't increase your weight limit in drastic amounts. It would naturally be a series of incremental requests to increase the gravity until I reach a natural threshold!
[AUDIO]
[Well. Theoretically it could work? Like wearing weights all the time or high altitude training? But it seemed like it shouldn't. Still, Aizawa is way too eager for that. Jason's not sure how normal Aizawa's been since showing up, but this is looking like Christmas came early.]
[AUDIO]
Re: [AUDIO]
[Just... Implying. A little.
Come on, he just doesn't want to run around weighing five times more than he usually does.]
[AUDIO]
The potential muscle damage would need some comparable down-time. Even so, you could easily return to a fair schedule in a few weeks!
[AUDIO]
Do you ever wonder if you've spent too much time thinking about something?
[Because this is sounding dangerously like a childhood fantasy come true.]
[AUDIO]
[Basically: He reads too much.]
[AUDIO]
[When was the last time Jason read something that wasn't required or some martial arts philosophy book?]
Well, if you think it'll work...
[AUDIO]
[He was clearly imbalanced and mad with power.]
Seize every opportunity to improve.
[AUDIO]
[It doesn't carry over the audio, but he's definitely shrugging.]
It just seems too easy.
[Something about 'easier said' seems to have to escaped him.]
[AUDIO]
In this capacity, it's the same as adding weights to your ankles and wrists.
[He was aiming more for gains in stamina--since bulky muscle wasn't really anything he wanted.]
I'm fairly certain it's only easy in terms of planning. It's not going to be enjoyable at all for me.
[AUDIO]
[He'd never actually gotten into weight training. That kind of stuff was expensive.
Also, Aizawa seems more like the kind of guy who enjoys straining during a workout. He may put out a lazy front, but Jason's pretty sure that someone who was just a bum wouldn't spend so much time thinking up weird and nightmarish exercises to put his victims through. But he's smart enough not to call Aizawa's bluff.]
[AUDIO]
Except, your organs don't typically behave like muscles. The base comparison is generic enough to get the point across but it's more about moderating the amount of oxygen that gets set in your blood stream and how your heart pumps blood.
Gravity has an effect on that as well. Essentially speaking, it's theorized that gravity shifts could affect your equilibrium as well.
[And yet, Aizawa was trying to reassure Jason with this information.]
[AUDIO]
How would it change my equilibrium? I mean, I'm still built the same way. My center of gravity isn't going to suddenly change, is it?
