So, we've got a bunch of new people. If we haven't met yet, hey. I'm Jason Lee Scott. In the field, you can call me Amp. But Jason's fine pretty much anywhere else. It's great to meet all of you. I'd turn this into a general introduction and powers announcement thing, but I think I'd hurt Grif's feelings if I stole his gimmick.

But we are gonna get to know each other outside of the regular Legion-mandated training. Don't worry about that. See, I've been saving up my money, what I haven't been sending to charities supporting recovery efforts on Naltor and Winath...

[And here he pauses for a moment to insert links to information on those charities.]

...Yeah, anyway. Like I said, saving stuff there, and I've got enough to afford a three day retreat. I mean, last time we went to a beach and it was great, and free, but I figure one or two of us have had enough of swimsuits for a little while. So this time, I figured that I'd put it up for vote.

I'm looking at three choices here. No pictures, we'll let some things about this be a surprise.

Option one: Plain ol' camping in the woods. I can get us a reservation in Yellowstone. Apparently Old Faithful isn't quite so faithful anymore, but we've still got cliffs and trees and all of that. We can chat, maybe do a bit of training while we're there, explore, all that. It'd be great.

Option two, and this one is neat: There's a campsite that's actually on an asteroid. One that's got two others in a stable orbit around it. Apparently Brainiac 3 used to use it as a lab or something to work in private, but the Coluans have confiscated everything after they died and all we're left with is three huge asteroids with low level gravity and an atmosphere. They promised me that there aren't any killer robots. [They actually seemed a little offended that it had been a concern.]

Option three could be a bit risky, but it still sounds cool. This one mad scientist made this hollowed out planet and filled it with an artificial ecosystem. It's got a fake sun, atmosphere, giant mushrooms... It's a little humid, but there's already some buildings, bathrooms with showers, and cooking sites set up, complete with, uh. 'Primordial beast repelling sonic fields'. Probably not going to be too much of an issue if something gets curious, though. Gravity's going to be a little higher than Earth's, though. 1.2 Gs.

So, uh. Yeah! Vote for which one sounds good and I'll set everything up for us to get on a week or two from now. Same as last time, you guys just get a bit of say in it now. We can set up campfires, cook some s'mores, play some games, get to know each other when there isn't a big crisis going down... It'll be fun!

Oh man, all of these sound good. I think I'm going to have to vote for option three, but I'd be happy with any of them.

So that's two for option one, three for both of the others, and a "whatever is good". Man, this might end on a coin toss. if I can find a three-sided coin.

I'll scope things out first.

Well, I remember that Nick, our local fox cop, has enhanced senses. If he's coming along and we end up going there, I'll probably need to advise him to grab some.

It'd surprise me if they didn't have that kind of thing, though.

Good plan.

This sounds like a good idea.

A training excursion in different terrain could be a nice change of pace.

Don't say the 't' word too loudly, you'll scare Grif off.

[That wasn't much of an improvement.]

I'll cast my vote for the planet with the heightened gravity.

Field Day?

[Field days were fun, though. And Jason's not sure he wants to know what Aizawa's idea of 'fun' was. Probably thinking up new and interesting exercises to torture his pupils with.]

Somehow I figured you might go for that one.

Three-sided die? Random number generator?

On the other hand, a three-sided coin wouldn't be the weirdest thing I've seen here...

You know, I've heard training at higher Gs can be really effective, but the idea of giant mushrooms in the showers skeeves me right out.

Look here, if there's a "Primordial monster option" on the table, I'm gonna do everything I can to not pick it!

Training at higher gravities probably takes longer than a few days to have any real effect, I think. Then again, couldn't we reverse the flight rings somehow if we wanted that kind of thing?

[They couldn't. Valorium wasn't known for increasing the weight of things. However, increasing the weight of their hab areas could work.]

I'd think that wearing a weighted vest when you worked out would do better. Anyway, I don't think that there's mushrooms in the showers. That just seems like a health hazard.

[Definitely something to check on, though.]

If push comes to shove, I'll just ask someone to pick a random number between one and three.

[If Jason were more of a jerk, he might press the whole "Making Dipper sad" thing. Fortunately, he's not.]

I dunno, seeing some dinosaurs wouldn't be that bad. Though, from the sounds of things, there might be less awesome thunder lizards and more horrifying tentacle beasts. Or maybe just some giant frogs. Either way, the fences should keep them out.

Huh, I hadn't really thought about using weighted clothes. Sometimes I train with my skin on, but I can't tell if it's making much of a difference. [ She means her metal skin, but isn't really paying attention to her phrasing. ] It doesn't weigh all that much more than normal.

[ Amidst this contemplation of training techniques, a thought dawns on her. ] Are you gonna be okay with giant mushrooms? I mean, you had that thing way back when...

Yeah, see, that "should" right there is the problem!

Where's your sense of adventure?

[He pauses at the skin comment, thinking back on one of the skinless monsters he faced back home. Wait, no, the last time he'd checked her file for a possible mission it'd said something about metal skin, right? He'd have to doublecheck.] I know some guys who swear by them. Weighted vests for pull-ups and pushups, weighted anklets and wristbands for running, that kind of thing. It's never really been my thing, though. I keep thinking it'd throw me off when I need to do things normally.

[Get too used to that added weight, he thinks, and you'll be overcompensating when you don't need to.]

Huh? Oh! [He laughs for a moment.] I'll be fine! I wasn't traumatized or anything. [And even if he was, he wouldn't admit it.] So I take it that you're definitely voting for Option Three?

The health concerns are somewhat outweighed by the intriguing nature of how you could improve your lung capacity through vigorous training, there.

Of course I'd choose that one!

Wouldn't you need to stay there for weeks for that to work out though? I don't know, it seems like you'd have better luck telling the techs to increase the gravity in your hab area.

H-hey now. You don't want to go overboard with that kind of thing. I'd hate to come in for exercises one day and find out that you've hurt yourself by going overboard! Seeing a human pancake would be totally uncool.

[Honestly, Jason should probably be more worried about himself. But, yes. The Legion's technicians could alter the gravity, temperature, and even the atmosphere of a habitat area! Force fields kept atmospheres from leaking, so creating low-oxygen environments would be child's play.

The big trouble would be convincing the technicians that you weren't insane for wanting to turn your living space into a danger zone.]
