[The omnicomm hadn't been too difficult for Vance to figure out after a quick tutorial. He would have posted something earlier, but there had been a couple of minutes of...getting ahold of himself again.]

[It wasn't every day he woke up in the future of some alternate universe and found out that he'd arrived just ahead of fucking GALACTUS, after all.]

[So it was understandable that he'd needed an extra few minutes of deep breathing before he turned on the omnicomm, switching on the video while he was still in the infirmary.]

I see that my mutant ability of excellent timing is still in effect as much as ever.

My name is Vance Astrovik. Back home, I also go by the name of Justice. Glad to meet you all. Anybody want to bring me up to speed on what Officer Erin didn't mention?

Yeah. Galactus is kinda the last thing you think about when you wake up in a weird place.

Probably not, honestly, but that doesn't mean they aren't good ones.

Sorry. Yeah, I'd love to say that this isn't usually the case, but I'm feeling hard pressed to think of a period longer than two weeks where there hasn't been some huge crisis. I think I'm going to either adapt or get addicted to space coffee. One of the two.

Ignoring the circumstances, hey. Nice to meet you. I'm Jason. Jason Lee Scott. Also called 'Amp'... Pretty much only by the press.

[He laughs a bit at that. Hey, it was what it was.]

Well, at least that's something I'm pretty used to. It's pretty much the same in my world, too, going from crisis to crisis. At least you sometimes get a bit of a break.

Amp, huh? I'm curious how you came by that name.

You know, watching all the cartoons as a kid, I always figured that the whole 'evil plan of the week' gag was just something for a story. I never really figured it'd be like that when I actually became a superhero.

Yeah, Amp. I, uh. Amp up people's powers. A bit. Depending on how everyone else feels about me at the time.

It's usually a bit more than a week back home, but we don't get a lot of down time. At least the big ones wait for every few years.

Huh. That's an interesting power. Could definitely be useful when deployed at the right time.

Big ones like Galactus? I'd hate to have to deal with him more than once.

I haven't needed to use it a lot. Maybe I should, but there never seems to be enough time.

Well, it's not like he has a lot to do between eating planets. Not really a great conversationalist, from what I hear.

He does, but at his size, I'm assuming it takes a lot of energy to actually talk. That's why he has his Heralds. They talk for him.

So he shows up, eats everything he sees, makes a whole damn mess, and doesn't even hold a conversation about it.

What a jerk.

I'm gonna keep this quick.

One) hi, I'm alive again. [He waves with the hand not holding his omnicom, which happens to be his robotic prosthetic.] No, I don't know how. Yes, I remember dying. Whatever brought us here must've been powerful enough to bring me back. In any case, it's good to see you, especially now.

Two) Galactus is here. We're working on it.

Three) my mini-me is here, and I didn't wanna take his hero name from him 'cause he's earned it, so he's going by Nova, I'm going by Nova Prime.

I think that's everything.

[Yeah. Okay. He'd seen Rich talking on the other communication, but that didn't mean he'd quite internalized it yet. So, yeah, Vance stared for a moment before he shook his head and pushed it aside. Compartmentalized until a later time when he could take a few minutes and get his head around it properly.]

I'm not sure how much good I'm going to do against fucking Galactus, but I'll do my best. Know where I can get a list of everybody we have here and their abilities?

[iamresponding]

You can ask Kid Q, she's got a roster and everything.

[Rich smiles at him.]

Well. I came awful close to not seeing anybody again.

[A pause.]

Dunno if this is permanent, though. Getting brought back like this. Not when I don't know what did it or how. But for now... it's good to be back. And it's definitely nice seeing a familiar face.

[It's not like Vance doesn't remember the pirate thing. It feels like a dream, even now, and he's pushing it away in order to be able to function at the moment. He can have a breakdown about his friends dying LATER.]

The infirmary. Or...wherever it is we wake up. About to be en route to my 'area' around here. Whatever that means.
