video | he still thinks he's in "out with the old"
[ The first thing that could be seen was a shot of the medbay ceiling, followed immediately with a groggy groan. The camera unsteady, taking a few seconds to settle on the man's face... before showing Reinhardt, out of his armor, looking every bit like he just got up from a long sleep. ]
Augh... I feel like I slept the sleep of the dead...
[ Bad choice of words there, but he sure isn't awake enough to notice. One hand coming up to rub the sleep from his eyes, as he continued. ]
Friends, tell me... [ His hand came down from his face, looking more than a little concerned. ] Was anyone hurt? Are the veterans safe?

... I'll take tar over piss.

Be there soon.
[True to his word, it's not long before he's in medbay with a thermos and two mugs. Good coffee is good coffee and well worth being shared.]
Good morning, Sleeping Beauty.

The best he could manage though, was to sit up. Trying to relax, and not think about how he felt like his body had been put through a grinder. ]
Ah... it is good to see you, my friend...
[ He sounds... tired. Out of energy. He's not even looking up, once again rubbing his eyes. ]
Do me a favor, if you could. Remind me to not charge out a window next time.

[He'd kept an eye on the conversation while he was getting coffee, and it looked like Barry had already broken the news. Saves Wash an explanation, at least. He pours a mug of coffee and offers it to Reinhardt before taking a seat and pouring one for himself.]
You kind of saved all of our lives with that maneuver, so no promises.
no subject
That is good. [ He said softly, gladly accepting the coffee cup. Holding it in his hands, and staring down at the warm liquid. ] I hadn't given it much thought when I did it. I just recognized the sound, and reacted before my mind had the chance to catch up.
[ Another chuckle, this one a bit more earnest. ]
It seems I have too much fight in me, even for myself.

Well, everyone on that mission owes you some gratitude. The least I can do is bring coffee.
[He shrugs, gives a small toast with his mug, and takes a sip. He's stalling a bit - they have to shift away from the pleasantries at some point.]
How are you holding up? [Wait, more than one meaning.] And I don't mean physically.
no subject
I am... well enough, I believe. [ He flexes an arm, a pop audible. ] My entire body is sore... and I am not sure if that is from the mission, or how long I have been asleep.
I could be concerned about how long I was gone, the extent of my injuries, how close I was to death's doorstep...
[ Then, with a chuckle, he looked up at Wash. ]
But really, I would just like to get back out there.
no subject
Yeah, well, don't stage a daring escape until after I leave, okay? I don't want to get in trouble for agitating a patient. Again.
no subject
Then I suppose you will bring beer next time, so as to keep me from getting it myself, yes?
[ HE'S NOT SAYING NO... ]
no subject
[Wash knows where some of the places are, sure, but Reinhardt knows the people and that's worth a hell of a lot more.]
no subject
[ The nurses have been fretting over him, probably because of his sudden reappearance. Not that he could blame them, knowing what he knew now, but... he wasn't the sort to sit still. ]
no subject
[Either because he's better or because the medbay staff is out of patience. The real question is which of those happens first.]
no subject
I don't suppose you can convince them to make it shorter, could you?
no subject
I wasn't kidding about the whole "agitating patients" thing. I'm sure you'll convince them to shorten it all on your own.

What are the chances I could find some movies to watch while I'm in here?
Because this will be one hell of a week.

Oh! Perhaps Demolition Man.

You want me to get you The Room while I'm at it?
[Smirk.]
no subject
My friend, you wound me!
... Birdemic or bust.
no subject
[Wash returns that scandalized look, though it's definitely overlaid with the smirk he'd just been wearing.]
Birdemic? Birdemic? Manos: the Hands of Fate exists, and you want Birdemic? Reinhardt, I thought you had taste.
no subject
But if you want to get hammered, you watch Alone in the Dark.
[ Then, after a moment of silence, an idea pops into his head. ]
... Marathon?
no subject
[Too expensive and leads to sugar headaches. Forget that.]
[He blinks as that idea sinks in, takes another moment to really process it, and then laughs. Oh yeah, he's really missed Reinhardt.]
Jesus, are you trying to kill me? I don't think anyone could survive that much concentrated shitty filmmaking all at once.
no subject
The will of Manos shall be served, my friend.
no subject
[He's betting no one will be, but that's not about to stop him and he's pretty sure it won't stop Reinhardt either.]
