[Video] Time Ripples Event (CW: child abuse)
[The omnicomm comes on and...well, it's not obviously a member of the Legion. For one, he's obviously too young. But there's obviously reason for concern as there are obvious tear tracks on the boy's face and he's reached over, holding his arm.]
[There's also a bruise on his cheek and a bit of blood coming from his nose. But that last could actually have more to do with the slight purplish-blue aura cast over the camera.]
[He huddles back into a corner, eyes wide as he swallows and opens his mouth, speaking with a fairly strong New York accent.]
Well. I'm not sure where I am, but I don't think it could be much worse than where I just was.
[He shifts and hisses, omnicomm bobbing as his concentration is shaken.]
Umm. I don't suppose anybody out there could give me a ride to the hospital? Mom was gonna, but...well, I doubt she's taking me now.

[No one's solidly explained the "multiple universes" thing to her yet, mostly because she's been avoiding adults on the assumption that they are the fun-ruiners. However, since the new kid needs help, maintaining her cover would now be wrong.]

[People who are immune to the bystander effect: Jane Shepard, at any age.]

[Does she need to call the cops, too.]

[She's good with tech. Also with not being overly impressed by weird stuff.]
no subject
[Okay. That's...actually a bit more worrying, now.]

[Duh.]

Did you sleep through intro to tech? Or whatever they called it at your school.
no subject
I mean. We have computer classes. Mostly concentrates on school stuff, though.

[She wrinkles up her nose. What kind of pre-Prothean nonsense is this?]

[This is clearly the most plausible explanation.]

I mean. I hit pretty hard when my arm broke. So it's not impossible?

[Said in the tone adult Shepard will one day say things like "for fuck's sake."]
I'm calling the hospital.
[Since he is clearly TOO DUMB TO DO IT FOR HIMSELF.]
no subject
Hey. I'm not going to object!

[Jane's talking to herself as she taps at the omnicomm. On top of her genre advantage, she's got a knack for tech, and it doesn't take her long to figure out how to place a call to the Medbay without hanging up on Vance.]
Right, they said since you're not bleeding severely and can keep a conversation going, you're okay to stay put and let Speedball escort you.
[Fortunately, that's not the name of a drug where she's from.]

[He reaches up, dabbing at his nose with his sleeve, since he doesn't have any other fabric close by to clean it with.]
This happens with my powers, though. The rest of it...isn't.
no subject
[Frysquint. The possibility of bleeding every time she uses her powers doesn't fill her with glee. Maybe it's fixable and they just don't know enough about human biotics yet.]
no subject
What's a biotic? Unless that's another word for mutant, in which case...yeah? I guess so? I'm telekinetic. Just not very strong.
no subject
[Good job Jane I'm sure that helped.]
Like this.
[She reaches off screen and comes back with a crinkling, empty bag that almost certainly once contained unnaturally-colored snack products. Setting the comm down on something, probably a low table, she places the bag in front of it, well lined up with the video pickups. Then she stares at it intently and begins to glow faintly blue-white. It's nothing like the vivid halo of a trained adult biotic, but she's definitely generating at least a minor mass effect field, and the bag floats up from the table, enveloped by the same dim light.
Jane has also succeeded in knocking the comm over, which provides a view of the bag continuing to drift upwards, combined with a cheerful 'oops' from her as she rights the device, no longer glowing.]
TK is the easiest one. Kinetic fields are hard, and I only got that to work once when I was way freaked out. I'm not supposed to try any molecular disruption yet.
...So do you just call it all telekinesis, or what?
