[Video] Time Ripples Event (CW: child abuse)
[The omnicomm comes on and...well, it's not obviously a member of the Legion. For one, he's obviously too young. But there's obviously reason for concern as there are obvious tear tracks on the boy's face and he's reached over, holding his arm.]
[There's also a bruise on his cheek and a bit of blood coming from his nose. But that last could actually have more to do with the slight purplish-blue aura cast over the camera.]
[He huddles back into a corner, eyes wide as he swallows and opens his mouth, speaking with a fairly strong New York accent.]
Well. I'm not sure where I am, but I don't think it could be much worse than where I just was.
[He shifts and hisses, omnicomm bobbing as his concentration is shaken.]
Umm. I don't suppose anybody out there could give me a ride to the hospital? Mom was gonna, but...well, I doubt she's taking me now.

[She wrinkles up her nose. What kind of pre-Prothean nonsense is this?]
no subject
no subject
[This is clearly the most plausible explanation.]
no subject
I mean. I hit pretty hard when my arm broke. So it's not impossible?
no subject
[Said in the tone adult Shepard will one day say things like "for fuck's sake."]
I'm calling the hospital.
[Since he is clearly TOO DUMB TO DO IT FOR HIMSELF.]
no subject
Hey. I'm not going to object!

[Jane's talking to herself as she taps at the omnicomm. On top of her genre advantage, she's got a knack for tech, and it doesn't take her long to figure out how to place a call to the Medbay without hanging up on Vance.]
Right, they said since you're not bleeding severely and can keep a conversation going, you're okay to stay put and let Speedball escort you.
[Fortunately, that's not the name of a drug where she's from.]
no subject
[He reaches up, dabbing at his nose with his sleeve, since he doesn't have any other fabric close by to clean it with.]
This happens with my powers, though. The rest of it...isn't.
no subject
[Frysquint. The possibility of bleeding every time she uses her powers doesn't fill her with glee. Maybe it's fixable and they just don't know enough about human biotics yet.]
no subject
What's a biotic? Unless that's another word for mutant, in which case...yeah? I guess so? I'm telekinetic. Just not very strong.
no subject
[Good job Jane I'm sure that helped.]
Like this.
[She reaches off screen and comes back with a crinkling, empty bag that almost certainly once contained unnaturally-colored snack products. Setting the comm down on something, probably a low table, she places the bag in front of it, well lined up with the video pickups. Then she stares at it intently and begins to glow faintly blue-white. It's nothing like the vivid halo of a trained adult biotic, but she's definitely generating at least a minor mass effect field, and the bag floats up from the table, enveloped by the same dim light.
Jane has also succeeded in knocking the comm over, which provides a view of the bag continuing to drift upwards, combined with a cheerful 'oops' from her as she rights the device, no longer glowing.]
TK is the easiest one. Kinetic fields are hard, and I only got that to work once when I was way freaked out. I'm not supposed to try any molecular disruption yet.
...So do you just call it all telekinesis, or what?
no subject
[Still, he manages a crooked smile at the display.]
I'm not sure. I mean, mostly what I can do is move things around with my mind at the moment, shift them from one place to another. Like what I'm doing with this thing right now. [The video feed bobs as Vance demonstrates what 'this thing' is.] The X-Men have a telekinetic on their team and she can use hers to fly and make defensive shields, so maybe I'll be able to do that some day, too.
no subject
Well yeah, Barrier is pretty basic. Everyone learns that. Did you get your implant already?
[Jane's never heard of a biotic who can manipulate dark energy without the characteristic aura, but coming as she does from a universe were telekinesis exists and is fairly well-understood, that's the logical first assumption. Still, everything he's saying is slightly...off.]
no subject
[He frowns in response, shaking his head.]
No, no implants. This is just...me. It's what I can do.
no subject
She might be a little nervous and hiding it well.
She's about to say something when she hears the whoosh of Robbie letting himself in.]
Sounds like your ride's here.
[Metaphorically speaking.]
I'll come see you in the hospital, okay?
no subject
[It's a couple hours later that he's settled in the medical bay, arm held in place while something works on healing it. Though the fracture wasn't bad, it did need to be set properly and it would take some time to heal properly. That and the bruises that the staff hadn't liked at all. But he's got a bed and there's cool stuff happening to his arm and he doesn't hurt right now, so hey. It's pretty much all a win to him.]
action
Junk food.
She stuffs an armful of nutritionally barren snacks into a satchel, then adds a couple of neatly-folded t-shirts and a hoodie stolen from her adult self as camouflage atop the lot. No one will confiscate a change of clothes, especially if she doesn't act all shifty about things.
So when she breezes into Vance's room later, it's with a bag of snacks she almost certainly didn't have to conceal from the Legion's laid-back medical staff slung over a shoulder.]
Hey.
no subject
[Vance looks up from his omnicomm, which he isn't trying to manipulate with his T at the moment. Mostly because he doesn't have to since he doesn't have to try to keep his arm immobilized as much as possible.]
[He looks up and grins, shifting a bit to sit up a bit straighter. Or as much as he can with what's happening to his arm.]
Jane! Hi!
no subject
[Technically, this is not a lie, and she did choose shirts because they might have had to cut his off to treat the arm. Not to mention, if your nose is bleeding, your shirt is usually the clothing item that gets ruined. Source: Jane has gotten into a fight or six on the playground.]
Among other things.
[And then she dumps the entire lot into his lap, grinning.]
no subject
Thanks. I could use it.
[He blinks in surprise when she dumps everything out on his lap, then starts picking some of it up with one hand, given that the other arm has something on it.]
I have no idea what any of these are, but they look cool!
no subject
[Since none of the adults are trying to stop her, she has been conducting a thorough scientific investigation of the local junk food.]
no subject
[He immediately digs through to find the blue poofy ones, tilting his head as he looks at them.]
Really? Back home, blue is usually raspberry or maybe sour cherry.
no subject
[Without asking first, she hops onto the bed to sit cross-legged at the foot and help Vance sort through the snacks.]
How's your arm?
no subject
[He keeps picking through the junk food, looking up when Jane hops onto the edge of the bed, then glances down at his arm.]
It's good? I think. It's kinda numb at the moment and they're keeping it immobilized so that I don't make things worse. But they said it should be healed in a couple more hours or so. Though they might keep me overnight, just to be certain it's healed properly.
[The actual reason has more to do with the bruise on his face, which the doctors want to make certain didn't do anything to his head. But the arm gives them a good reason for him not to leave. And one that Vance won't object to.]
