[Video feed flips on with the observation deck serving as a backdrop to a man in black. Black cowl, covering the head and upper face, all the way down the neck and across the shoulders. All that shows is the man's lower face as some sort of lens even covers his eyes.]

[Though the cowl is a little odd in that there are definitely 'ears' on the top of the head. Though lower than some who knew him in his own world might have seen before. Then again, Batman did like changing up his costumes from time to time.]

[He's frowning, but it seems more a thoughtful frown than one with any actual emotion behind it.]

I have to admit, this isn't where I expected to be when I started my patrol.

Anybody want to give me the rundown of this place? The one that's not sanitized for newcomers.

[Those lenses make it really easy to give a blank look to America. Even if Dick is blinking behind them and quirking an eyebrow a little.]

[ Joey turns his feed on, but spends another ten seconds staring at the screen while he mentally ticks off the things that back up what he already knew in his gut.

Then, he sits back and smiles widely as he signs. ]

[Even if he's almost used to friends coming back from a lot of difficult stuff happening to them, this is probably the first time he's seen an old friend...basically looking like an old friend.]

[So it still takes a moment before he can formulate a response. In sign as well, because that's only polite.]

There are levels of unexpected, Jericho.

[At least he's good enough to finger spell the name rather than shorthand it. Even if he has a feeling that Joey might already have a clue, judging from that smile.]

Timber Wolf got his arm stuck in a couch last week because Cub jumped on him when he was fishing around for the remote control.

I've seen Dreamer walk into a doorframe, a wall, and Umbra because she was thinking about the future and not actually where she was in the present.

[That gets a pause and a very slight tilt of the head.]

[Oh snap, it's Batman. Just the sight of him makes Kyle feel kind of nervous, but it's cool... Just gotta play it cool. (Of course, even with a mask, Kyle probably still looks a little awkward. He's talking to Batman.)]

They're actually pretty straightforward about it. Ending up here is probably the only real surprise. The people in charge are actually a lot more transparent about things than some other people I know.

[looks at the guardians, looks away]

[And now Kyle. This place is just great for throwing surprises at Dick. Kyle was always closer to Wally than he was to any other heroes around their age, but Dick knew that Bruce had respected him a lot.]

The transparency is appreciated. I just wanted to be certain that I was getting the whole story.

I mean, the whole newcomer speech is pretty accurate, honestly? The worst part they don't tell you about in the briefing is probably the fandom.
