[video] Russians and Dogs In Space!
Hellooo Legion of Superheroes!
[The man on the screen is handsome and pale, with silvery hair that falls over one of his stunning blue-green eyes. He looks to be in his mid- to late-twenties, and only a pinched look around his visible eye betrays worry. His mouth is certainly smiling and relaxed, and he's speaking with a pronounced Russian accent. It looks like he's still in the Medbay, but he’s sitting on the edge of his bed there.]
I am Victor Nikiforov! Which means much less here than it does back home, so that's a new and interesting experience for me.
[There's a bark off-screen, and a dog appears at Victor's elbow, clearly sitting on the bed with him. It's fluffy and a little ridiculous looking, probably a standard poodle but without the funny haircut. Victor obligingly moves his arm and adjusts the angle of the camera so that both of them are evenly in the shot.] Makkachin and I are recently arrived, and I’m very grateful that the Legion has been keeping an eye on Phelolu, because I would have been very disappointed if we both died there of poison and cold.
I've been informed that I now have short-term precognition. Either that or people are just repeating things as a funny joke, but that seems a little far-fetched when I'm already in another universe in space! So right now, I'm working on choosing my super hero name. Please, tell me yours, and what you like to do around here in your free time!
Oh, and I was assured that Yuuri Katsuki is already here. If anyone sees him and he's not on his way, could you tell him that his coach and the dog who likes to jump on him in public are here? [Makkachin barks again, and Victor laughs, glancing away from the camera.] Yes, and Makkachin is here too!

Welcome to the Legion, Victor! My name is Kubo. I'm a storyteller.
[He plays a little riff on his shamisen, one of his papers folding itself into an origami approximation of the dog. What even is a dog? It looks like a nice animal.]
I guess my superhero name is Paperboy, but I still answer to Kubo.
It's good to see one of Yuuri's friends here! I bet he'll be relieved to see you.
[It was real easy to worry about that guy!]
Re: [Video]
Ahh, that's amazing! How wonderful!
[He sounds delighted and 100% sincere, mostly because he is. If he weren't holding something, he'd probably be clapping his hands.]
It is very nice to meet you, Kubo. Thank you for your assistance, and for the demonstration of your powers! You must have practiced a lot to be so good with them.
[His smile gets simultaneously wider and softer on the topic of Yuuri.]
I certainly hope so! He hasn't been here too long, has he? I'd hate to have kept him waiting.
Re: [Video]
[He looks off camera and smiles, clearly at someone else who's in the room, but doesn't keep his attention impolitely away from the conversation at hand for too long!]
So, you're well known back in your world? Will you share your story?
Re: [Video]
I can certainly agree that having a great teacher is very important. Your skill does them credit. But don't sell yourself short either, the best teacher in the world can do nothing with a student who refuses to learn.
[Evidently, Kubo's teacher is in the room with him. That's good, he seems a little young to be running around without someone to keep an eye on him. And Kubo is clearly delighted to have them around, which is even better.]
Yes, back home, I'm a famous athlete. I'm not sure my story is particularly exciting against the backdrop of space and super heroics, but I'd be delighted to tell it, if you're interested.

Re: [Video]
video --> action
[...And then Victor gets to "his coach and the dog who likes to jump on him in public" and Victor mentioning Makkachin separately, and he rolls his eyes, because what else is there to do when someone talks like that? All Yuuri can do is look up at the ceiling, red-faced, with the hand that isn't holding his omnicom held out as if he is beseeching the heavens to take pity upon him and stick some kind of celestial sock in Victor's mouth before more embarrassing things come out of it. ]
Why would you --?
[stupid question. Why does Victor do anything he does?]
[Yuuri's words just break down into incoherent noises, and he gets up anyway, because extreme mortification hasn't been a paralyzing force for a while now. The omnicom feed cuts off before Victor can even answer.]
[It's Yuuri's first day out of Medbay, so he gets up and runs from his room in the Crew Quarters, back to the very place he was glad to escape from. (He still hasn't wrapped his head around the whole 'this ring will let me fly' thing). He skids to a stop as he goes past each Medbay room, looking for Victor, and he's going so fast he almost slides past the actual room Victor is in.]
[Then there is a lunge and the tackle and Victor goes from standing to being hugged on the bed in about 0.2 seconds flat.]
Re: video --> action
[He had, naturally, lit up when Yuuri appeared on his screen, blushing and exasperated but clearly glad to see him anyway. The other man was gone again before Victor could say anything else, but he is reasonably certain that Yuuri just wants to have this conversation face to face. And, as predicted, he hears the sound of running footsteps, and rises off the bed to meet him part way, but either Yuri's gotten faster or he's still a little dizzy from Phelolu because Victor's new video phone-thing goes flying when Yuuri tackles him and they barely manage to avoid landing on Makkachin when Victor's back hits the bed again. Unbeknownst to them, it continues displaying the two of them, albeit from an odd angle.]
[This whole thing is so unusual (alternate realities. Space. Super powers. Yuri tackle-hugging him) that Victor has no hesitation in wrapping his arms tightly around Yuri's shoulders and burying his nose in his hair.]
There you are. I missed you.
[Makkachin barks and joyfully licks their exposed ears.]
no subject
[Honestly, that's what it feels like. Yuuri still feels like all of this is a little unreal. Having Viktor here to hold onto is a grounding influence.]
[The funniest part of that is Viktor hardly seems the type to help someone else feel grounded, but Yuuri seems to be a rare exception in a lot of respects.]
[He finally pulls away, but only just enough to hover over him on the bed, and presses his forehead against Viktor's.]
I'm glad Makkachin is okay. I missed you, too.
[The last part is almost a whisper and the look he gives Victor is pure distilled adoration.]
It's not your fault that you missed my free skate, but if you'd missed...whatever all this is, I never would've forgiven you.
[A lie, naturally.]
[That's when Yuuri happens to glance off to the side -- and sees the omnicom is still recording. His face going red and his eyes popping open wide, he lets out a little shriek of mortification, and then fumbles to turn the recording off. It's not really that he's embarrassed to be seen with Viktor so much as embarrassed if anyone sees such a huge and obvious PDA.]
[His head thuds against Victor's shoulder.]
Your omnicom was still recording.
[So he's just going to die now. Sorry for the dead weight, Victor.]

Nice to meet you, Victor. I'm Robbie. If I see Yuuri, I'll let him know that you're looking for him.
[ He's wondering why he's so much less concerned by Victor talking about choosing a superhero name. Confidance has a lot to do with it, he decides, and Victor isn't asking to be named, only for examples. ]
My codename's Speedball. I usually hang out on the Habitat Deck or the training rooms - oh, and the mess. But there's a cool arcade in Metropolis on Earth that I can recommend - and I guess a club, too.
no subject
And you as well, Robbie! I appreciate the assistance!
[He taps a finger to his lips.]
I'm not really one for arcades, but I will certainly stop by when I visit Metropolis. And the club too. Is it a very tourist-friendly city? I don't think I've ever been.
no subject
No problemo. I'm just relieved you're not calling us all hallucinations. It's been a weird week on SpaceQuest DS9.
[ Robbie's experience of the city was rather limited. He's not sure how much he would have wandered, personally - the city was huge - but he never felt like he was threatened.
... he has a skewed threat level though. Hm. ]
It's... it's definitely Legion-friendly. If you're going to go, go before anyone planetside knows you're a member, or people are going to stare at you. Other than that, I say treat it like any other big city. New York, London, Moscow. Just be smart.

[Of course, his "dog" is actually a reality-warping partially-dog girl, and she isn't his, so that's probably why.]
anyway injustices of the universe aside

i go by justin time here
so hows the futurevision work for you
text
Ahh, so tragic! I know it's not the same, but you can always come pet Makkachin if you like.
[WHAT IF HE DIDN'T HAVE HIS DOG WITH HIM?! Okay, Makkachin would be safe in the care of the Katsuki family, BUT HE WOULD BE SAD.]
So many things are 'up' that I'm not sure where to start. But it's nice to meet you. Why did you pick 'Justin Time'?
It's strange. It's like I'm just going about my life, and then I wake up and something that just happened happens again.

[There is a blond-haired elf in what could pass as a skating costume waving at him. Welcome to superheroing, man.]
I picked Sub-Mariner. It's a family thing.
[Go Golden Age or go home.
She skips the "what do you do in your free time" question, because the current answer is "fritter it away."]
Re: video
A pleasure to meet you, Nita. Does that mean that you have a...family tradition of super heroics?
video
Yeah, my cousin fought with the Allies in World War II!
[Then attacked New York a few times but ehhhhhh.]

[He's totally got to find a space dog now.]
Name's Casey Jones, but I go by The Reaper. There's another Reaper here, but I'm the cool Reaper. I makes these little firecrackers with my fingers [A small ball of energy pops up from his hand and snaps with a loud bang.] but I did this hero stuff without powers back home, so it's not like I need it.
Re: [Video]
[They have space-faring technology. They almost certainly have something that could fix Victor's teeth if whatever happened to this boy happened to him, right?]
Is that so? How interesting! Why did you choose The Reaper? Or was that just your name at home as well?
[Alien dogs? Alien dogs.]
Nah, I just went by Casey back home. I just made my costume to strike fear in the hearts of criminal scum. I mean, my hockey stick kinda looks like a scythe.

[Victor cradles his chin in his hand, tapping an index finger against his lips, before shooting Makkachin a look.]
Maybe his powers are not eating things that I have specifically told him not to eat, so that I don't have to drop everything and fly back to Japan in the middle of a competition. What do you think, Makkachin?
[Makkachin...chews on an itch on his foreleg. Signs point to 'no' on that one.]
