[Merl is hovering in a little pod in the background, playing with some holographic multidimensional puzzles Brainy designed for him.]
They threw themselves into the energy pits until there was enough of a blood sacrifice for Apokolips to burn once more. In doing so, they revived an ancient evil known as Darkseid, a god-like tyrant that kept his entire planet enslaved for eons.
According to the extant historical records, the planet was a living hell, shaped entirely in Darkseid's image, where the inhabitants were kept in a constant state of abject suffering and could only alleviate it by ascending the ranks of Darkseid's minions and becoming the tormentors of others themselves.
Darkseid was one of the greatest enemies of Superman, who was arguably one of the most powerful and influential Earth superheroes who ever lived - and despite Superman's power, Darkseid never fell, he only went dormant.
But even if Chronoblivion's forces could get past the garrison on Apokolips, I'm unsure what that would even accomplish. Darkseid is dead. After the Catastrophists revived him, he brought his past self forward in time to aid him in his efforts to destroy all of time and rule over the shielded remnants - and his past self betrayed and killed him. Then Kid Quantum and several others managed to push his past self 1000 years into the past where he belonged.
