[ The omnicom feed turns on, but there's a few second of shaky cam showing someone's shirt, and then something black, and then the purple shirt is back again as Joe tries to get it propped up to the correct angle.

When he's satisfied, he sits down square to the camera, far enough back that he's in frame from the waist up. He smiles and waves, before he begins signing.

Hi! I'm Joe Wilson. The translating earplugs seem to work through video, so I thought I'd start this way. Everyone's been able to understand me so far, which is surreal. I feel like I'm a point in a Seurat, and the universe took a big enough step back for me to take a place in the painting. It's fantastic! I'm so glad I was able to see it.

Oh, but this is going to be strange. I'm going to have to watch what I say from now on.

[ He grins widely, as he caught what he said there. It's somewhere between a double entendre and a pun. ]

I think I'll continue by typing though so no one misunderstands because they've looked away.

[ Joey picks the device back up and swaps the format. He restarts, briefly. ]

Hi everyone! My name's Joseph Wilson, but feel free to call me Joe or Joey.

I'm going to get this out of the way and ask you to please not feel bad about using phrases like "speak up" or "did you say anything?" It doesn't bother me, and, trust me, it's more awkward when a conversation screeches to a halt while people dance around it.

I'd love to be able to get to know my teammates before anything happens that requires a team. I wish nothing would happen that required a team of metahumans, but I'm not naive. Is anyone planning an activity they'd like a plus one for, or is there a certain time everyone hits the mess hall?

Until then, you're free to ask me whatever you'd like to know. I'll get the ball rolling. I'm a middle child, I like prog rock, and I think you can tell a lot about a person from the kind of salad dressing they buy.

Only if you promise you'll show me some of yours, too.

Oh man, we've got way more than that now, but we're pretty easy to miss, I think. It's a miracle if we even get to BE on Earth sometimes. The rainbow Lanterns don't hang around much, either, but they're mostly from other planets anyway. I don't want to bore you with all those details, though. The point is, you know another Lantern now, right?

Hey, I totally get it. But if you ever need anything, let me know. I wouldn't mind sharing with a fellow artist.

[At first, he wasn't sure what to choose for his biome, but it turns out that using his old apartment, the one he rarely had the time to visit before he got here, was actually a pretty good choice. All those unused art supplies and references, all just waiting to be used.]

Oh, in that case, I've got stories for days. But it's really something, isn't it? There's just so much out there. I worry that I take it for granted sometimes.
