whoops [video]

[Brainy looks faintly embarrassed as he greets everyone.]

This is a warning for all Legion World staff. The Roboticans brought an infant AI to me this morning because the errors in the child's programming were threatening their chances of survival.

And I...may have made a slight miscalculation on how much security I needed around their digital containment, so they've gotten loose in the ship's systems. They seem to have taken a liking to the current holiday celebrations and are forcing people together under tringlesprigs with forcefields to partake of the usual tradition.

Several Legion World staff have reported several incidents and say that once they engaged in one of the customary forms of affection, L-dash-44635/T series let them go.

The child is harmless. I've managed to block all systems that would allow them to cause actual damage to anyone or the ship and I just have to track them down and contain them. I just wanted to make it clear that if anyone of you are caught in one of their pranks, there's no need for alarm.

Note to Brainiac 5:

[ He sounds so calm, at first. Brace yourself for yelling. ]

SOME OF US DON'T KNOW WHAT TINGLESPRIG IS.

They're sprigs that tingle.

[He's helpful!]

Someone should have a doctor look at that. I'm calling that a Shakespeare shoutout.

I still don't know what a tinglesprig is. Or a baby AIs.

...judging by the context, it's space mistletoe.

Still does not tell me if it looks like not-space mistletoe or if it looks like snozzberries.

Hang on, give me a second.

[Barry blurs through Legion World, looking for any pairs who were unlucky enough to get caught in the forcefields. Once he does, he takes a quick picture of a decoration that very definitely looks like something that would be called tringlesprig.]

[ Helpfulness is both nice and irritating. Robbie hadn't meant to make someone else do the work, because he was trying to get Querl to shout. ]

Thanks?

[ He means it, but he's also exasperated - so it mostly sounds confused. ]

You know you stomped all over my lines, right?

...ah, sorry. Didn't mean to. Just trying to help, really.

You because you wanted to know, and Brainy because he's trying to track down a missing kid, and if it was me in his place I wouldn't want to be distracted by questions if someone else could answer them.

[It's not said accusingly, just said as a matter of fact. It might be different if the AI was in any danger, but that certainly isn't the case right now.]

I don't know if it's distracting. For one, I didn't ask him what it looked like, because he'd tell me to look it up or how smart he is or something equally useless.

Two, I don't know if you've heard six or seven times yet, but his brain is bigger than the entire brain power of Earth cubed, or whatever, so he's the kind of genius who can use two separate devices at the same time to do two different things while computing, I don't know, transwarp equations in his head. I made that up.

And three, I trust him to not waste time making this post until he's gotten a handle on the situation.

[ He doesn't offer much to clarify that, if he doesn't have to, but Robbie firmly believes that Brainy wouldn't stick his head out of the lab if the enfant terrible wasn't safe (or if they weren't safe from it).

Robbie shrugs.
]

Besides, I know he's going to ignore me. I think he has my omnicom blocked.

[ Robbie's intrigued by the setting. It is very Star Trek, and the movement from tube to tube is very space parkour. He appreciates good spatial awareness; he knows he's weird. ]

You always hog all the fun stuff.

[ Don't let him in those tubes unless it's okay to momentarily flood them with bubbles. ]

Also, if you haven't shut down the the signal yet: it was a JOKE. I'm scheduling a presentation on humor. Dare I call it a symposium? Maybe if I make some holo-slides.

Okay, for those of us who don't have tringlesprig at home, what exactly is the "usual tradition?"

Engaging in just about any form of physical affection! I've seen everything from handshakes and hugs to ass-slaps and extremely vigorous make-out sessions.

Wait, wait. A kid got loose and in the spirit of the holidays is going 'now kiss' with anyone under tringlesprig?

[ Valorday = nondenominational space future christmas, tringlesprig must = mistletoe. ]

Well that's not gonna be awkward at all.
