So um... I've been thinking about this for a while. Ever since we left Harrub, actually...

[ He grimaced a bit, pausing for a couple of seconds. Glancing off to the side, before taking a breath, and addressing the camera again. ]

But um, after the whole Murderworld thing... it's kind of become clear that some of us aren't... handling things that well... [ He was thinking about Videl specifically, but the anon meme has also made it clear Videl wasn't the only one. ] I know we all took the oath for various reasons, and we probably all expected different things out of becoming a superhero. But um, some of us probably didn't expect this... so...

... With the whole "Legionnaire Legacies" thing coming around the corner, I think we should... [ Another pause, as he tries to figure out how to phrase this. ] ... um... I guess, share our lives with each other? To make sure we're prepared, in case... in case the news digs up stuff about us, and tries to drag us through the mud with it.

[ This is so weird and strange and against everything Gohan knows. He's usually the most secretive person in the world, but... he's kind of had to cope with having an open identity, so might as well go all in. ]

It's not possible where I'm from either. But I also don't intend on literally stealing the past. What we're going to steal is the equipment through which these people intend to view our pasts; for preference while implicating them in the original theft of the Everywhere Machine, or at least finding out who they got it from so we can trace it back and find the thieves.

[She stabs her cereal idly with her spoon.]

I'm going to need to recruit people to help, but I'm fairly certain that the talent pool within the Legion should be sufficient without needing to, ah, 'compromise' any of the Legionnaires from this universe.

It's a vague idea of a plan at this point; while he can see dozens of obstacles in the way, he's also seen just how incredibly competent Parker is, and he's starting to believe that they might actually be able to do this.]

Okay, you realize we're Legion, right? We're supposed to be upholding the law. Just because someone stole something doesn't mean stealing it back is the right thing to do.

It's going to be hard to do this without Brainy's help, as he has the most information on the machine. That said, we can probably get someone who works in or around his lab to ask questions him questions without being suspicious. We can also start with the Time Institute on Talus - he lent it to them, so they should have a record of it.

[Oh, that must be what 'work a banana' means. Wash really is good at it. It's an impressive skill, no wonder York was telling people about it.]

It's not the legal thing to do. 'Legal' and 'right' are two completely different concepts.

[She is dating a nerd, she has seen alignment charts, Wash.]

I doubt we'll be able to fool Brainy, but he's told me that I'm allowed to take my flight ring home with me so I can use it for work. He said he'd be proud if I did, actually. He'll require very little prompting to 'accidentally' leave information where we can make copies. Again, plausible deniability.

[ D would probably let him fall for a bit before letting the flight kick in too, and rightly so. ]

I'll give you the highlights- but D's still sort of. Unsettled by the whole thing. Would it be ok if I left him with you when I go? In a storage unit or something. He's supportive of me going but doesn't want to be there himself.

[Wash's reply is delayed, as he has a few things to sort through and doesn't want to do it on camera. He doesn't want another AI, even after all these years. And last time he had custody of Delta-]

[Well.]

[But neither York nor Delta know that, and the Meta isn't here. Plus, York offered a storage unit, which helps. He can still talk to Delta, keep him from going wild with no stimulation.]

[ He'll be off balance as hell without but- he can't force D to go and he knows AI are tricky things for Wash so- step one: get himself a storage unit D can still project and speak from.

It's not like I lived with him. I actually only met him once. So I was thankfully not around for any of that. Even so it's still pretty uncomfortable to talk about. What the gods do in their private time is really something I'd just rather leave up to them.

Either way...I'm pretty sure neither of those things qualifies as "standard embarrassing parent material"

[He quirks an eyebrow at her distinction, not that she can see it. The sooner he accepts that her perspective is about 90 degrees off from his on a good day and somewhere around 180 on most days, the easier a time he'll have wrapping his mind around all of this.]

I think your definition of plausible deniability is a little different than mine, but okay. What's the next step?

[Parker shrugs.]

He's smarter than me. And he grew up with this legal system, and has already been arrested once. I trust that he knows better how to protect himself than I would.

Once we have the necessary information to plan the break-in, we plan the break-in. I'm not looking at a smash-and-grab here, I want us in and out with minimal damage so the SciCops don't show up until we want them to. Do a little digging in their records, see if they've been up to anything inappropriate or hinky, aside from threatening to display our pasts like made-for-TV movies. Which seems like it should be, but I'm not a spacefuture lawyer. What we want here is 1) to make them not do the thing, and 2) to find out where they got the stolen equipment so that they could do the thing. If we can get the latter information into the hands of the Legion's lawyers through anonymous tip format, so much the better.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not trying to say that people can't talk about whatever they want! I just think it should be their call, not the media's. And yeah, the media won't wait. They get paid for misery by the gram.

[ But on a more pleasant note. ]

... If it helps any, I understand that feeling. The idea that... maybe you didn't try hard enough, that you had to 'settle' for killing them. I understand that more than I wish I did.

[ This is a feeling exclusive to Cell. Exclusive to the fact that Gohan's mistakes got his dad killed. ]

But someone told me something that... I've thought about ever since I was a kid. I don't remember the entire speech, but... I do remember one line very clearly:

"It is not a sin to fight for the right cause."

[It makes a hell of a lot of sense, and also makes Wash wonder if this isn't Parker's day job. Something to think about another day.]

So we're looking at stealth and information - people who can go invisible, get in undetected, hack a database, stuff like that. We'd probably want someone who can make sure our anonymous tip can't be traced.

[It may be anonymous, but that doesn't mean he trusts the system. If someone's willing to poke around in their pasts without consent, there's no telling what else they might do in search of a good story.]

[Honestly, in terms of stealth and computers, he's thinking of Pidge, and he kind of hates it. It'd be her decision whether she wanted to be involved in this; that doesn't mean he wants her along with them on a heist. She's young, and she's already pretty damn stressed, and he doesn't want to make any of that worse.]

[He also thinks of Reaper and discards that thought almost immediately. Wash doesn't trust not!Ghostface as far as he can throw him (or blow him away with an industrial-sized fan. He's not picky).]

My guess is with popcorn, half-assed research, and wild speculation.

[Basically, literally everything that just happened on the anon meme.]

I'm still arguing it, officially.
