[Rich whistles a low whistle.]

Now that's always an interesting time. The first year.

[His voice goes very gentle.]

And one of the toughest.

It must feel a little overwhelming, being that new to it, and then getting thrown into something this high stakes. I was lucky enough that I didn't get pulled into the apocalyptic cosmic stuff until I was an adult, and had almost a decade under my belt.

[This is a lot for someone who's been at it only a year. The only way it could be harder is if he was like some of the others who'd been yanked into it with no experience at all.]

You're not alone, you know. A lot of us have been where you are. And I don't really know why you're so afraid to tell everyone, but you don't have to isolate yourself. If you talk about it, that means you'll have more people that can talk you through the hard parts -- or the parts that hurt.
