[ Hey guys, you like disgruntled teenagers? Because here's one right now! Sitting in the med-bay, wearing a hospital gown, and looking equal parts frustrated and confused. ]

So uh.

I feel like I've done this before.

[ A pause, as he glances to the side in thought. Before finally: ]

Am I stuck in a time loop? Because if I am, and no one else has caught it yet, I'm calling supervillain shenanigans.

Closer to a foot and a half away from the face, but that close it doesn't make too much of a difference.

[He has some idea. Despite Omega being one of the darker chapters in his life, he does still have a certain amount of pride in the things that he was able to accomplish. There are a lot of things he'd go back and change, but it's hard not to feel just a little bit impressive when you can honestly say that an army of mercenaries and gunship weren't enough to get the job done.

[And also to be eternally grateful for kinetic barriers and back-up who really knew what they were doing.]

I dunno if you realize this, but you might actually be the coolest person on this team right now.

Like, I think you need to know that.

[Garrus blinks, because that's the furthest reaction from what he's used to, and chuckles. He almost seems a little bashful as he shakes his head and looks down for a moment.]

Thanks, but, ah ... if that's the case I don't think you've met too many of the other people on the team.

You took a rocket. To the face.

And Shepard shrugged off re-entry.

[He pauses.]

Well, not exactly. She actually died, but death didn't seem to do much more than piss her off.

[Not that he's, you know, biased or anything.]

... Who's Shepard?

Also, when you say dead, I'm guessing like... not actual dead? Because how the heck do you come back from that?

Remember the woman from a few minutes ago? Redhead, human, sarcastically expressing surprise at the fact that I'm an alien ...?

[Yeah, that would be her.]

Beats the hell out of me. All I know is that apparently it comes with a four billion credit price tag and about two years of work.

... I have so many questions, and I don't even know where to start.

[ Is she his girlfriend? Can humans and aliens do the thing? Is she an android? Is she a cyborg? Is she also an action movie star? Does she lead a secret group of aliens and humans that work together to fight evil?

You know. Important questions. ]

[He shrugs, gesturing for Danny to just start whenever.]

Alright, I'm gonna get this one out of the way first.

Is Shepard your girlfriend?

What? No, I ... no.

[He denies it just a little too quickly before his voice evens out. The little chuckle at the end might not help his case too much either.]

Shepard's probably the best friend I've got and we've been through a hell of a lot together, but, ah ... no.

[Yet that seems to be the question everyone has for him.]

And technically my commanding officer, though ... honestly I'm not sure how official that is any more.

[The chain of command has gotten a bit fouled up in a few places ...]

[ There's something strangely familiar about Garrus' reaction, but he honestly can't place it. Like, it's at the tip of his tongue, but... no, he can't imagine why this feels familiar.

Could've fooled me, but whatever.

Okay, so then. Since she apparently came back from the dead, is she like... I dunno, a cyborg? I mean, you can't tell me she came back completely normal. You don't get four billion whatevers worth of money dumped into you without coming back as a like, a cool super robot.

The short answer is yes. From what I understand she got put back together with a lot of cloned parts and a lot of cybernetic enhancements. Where one starts and the other ends ...? I've got no idea. Not really my business.

[He's not sure he'd really want to know, anyway.]

As for normal ... well, depends what you define as normal. Her powers here are more or less things she could already do back home.

[ Oh wait, hang on. ]

And what powers are that?

[ Wait, wait, wait. ]

Actually, hang on, what powers do you have?

Me, I'm just good with a gun. Shepard's biotic. [a beat.] Which, I realize, probably requires some explanation.

Basically she can alter the mass of an object down to the atomic level. Sounds boring, but if you get creative you can do a lot with it.

[Damn near anything, really.]

[ That actually takes a moment for Danny to figure out, because Garrus got pretty technical with that terminology. But he knew enough science to know(?) that mass had something to do with gravity and density, and if you could alter that... ]

So... she can make things float?

Or she can play hell with the density of random parts of your body and let the whole thing pull itself apart under the weight of it's own shifting mass.

But floating is fun too.

[ The dark side of science. ]

... Yeah, no, that's fine. I didn't wanna sleep anyway.

Just stay on her good side and you've got nothing to worry about.

[His grin is decidedly wolfish for a second there before he decides to stop screwing with Danny.]

Seriously, though, she's ... [He catches himself and starts over:] She's not harmless, obviously, but she's not the type to hurt anyone who doesn't really deserve it.

She's tough, basically.

[ For some reason, this brings Valerie to mind. Can't imagine why. ]

That's one way of putting it.
