I do know a bit about pre-Justice System law. They had no legal right to arrest you for something you did before the laws passed unless you were still doing them after. Your lawyer should have been able to argue a series of mistrials around it, especially if you couldn't find an impartial jury.
Then again, there are reasons we did away with juries.
Anyway. You don't know what a cityblock is, do you? Roughly fifty thousand people, give or take, in one massive building, roughly the size of one of your cities. Kind of like an arcology. I spent about five weeks in Gramercy Heights assisting Dredd (Rico's brother) in clearing out a gang issue. Cleaned up the block, got rid of the gangs, took out some smugglers, handed a serial poisoner, drove off... Not a mile down the road and it turns out one of the cits had built a bomb big enough to bring the building down.
My fault? Maybe I missed the bomb components during a 59(C), maybe that was an apartment I was going to investigate when one of the brawls broke out. But I didn't assemble it, I didn't set it off, and I didn't know it was there.
We'll never have more than a working relationship, and I'd suggest never darkening my doorstep when this is all over, but there's no reason to watch you carry unnecessary weight. And, had they been Judges, I'd have their badges on my desk by the next morning.
[She's not turning on her video. Mainly because there's no reason to, at least on her end. But she doesn't refuse the connection, so at least she notes and appreciates the effort?]
